Ozeljan - Vitovski hrib

Access to starting point:
A) From the Vipava highway take the Vogrsko exit, then continue driving in the direction of Tolmin and Ozeljan. When we reach the old road Ajdovščina - Nova Gorica, at the traffic-light intersection continue right towards Ajdovščina. When we get to Ozeljan, in the hamlet Otava continue left onto a somewhat narrower road which leads us among the houses. When after a few hundred meters we get to a smaller intersection next to Zavarovalnica Triglav, Pošta Slovenije and Ozlinka, continue straight and park on the parking lot by the recycling island. We can also park on the approximately 100 meters distant parking lot by the cemetery, which is located to the left of the mentioned intersection.
B) From Nova Gorica along the old road drive towards Ajdovščina, then at the hamlet Tri Hiše (the hamlet is located at the traffic-light intersection where the road towards the settlement Vogrsko branches off to the right) continue straight. When we get to Ozeljan, in the hamlet Otava continue left onto a somewhat narrower road which leads us among the houses. When after a few hundred meters we get to a smaller intersection next to Zavarovalnica Triglav, Pošta Slovenije and Ozlinka, continue straight and park on the parking lot by the recycling island. We can also park on the approximately 100 meters distant parking lot by the cemetery, which is located to the left of the mentioned intersection.

Path description:
From the starting point, we continue towards the east (in the direction of the description to the starting point from the crossroad where we parked right), where the path leads past the company Konem Color, then we arrive at a crossroad where we continue left (right Lepenje) on an ascending asphalt road. The road further leads past a few more houses, then at the next few crossroads we continue on the "main" road. When higher, near the hamlet Opade, we arrive at a crossroad, then we continue straight uphill on a macadam road by which there is a traffic sign which "tells" us that we will continue the path along the firebreak. We continue on the macadam road, which ascends gently to moderately, from it occasionally some views open towards the surrounding hills. Higher, at the next sign for the firebreak, we continue straight or slightly right. A dozen steps further the road begins to descend, but at that point we continue left on a cart track which climbs to a marked junction.
From the junction we go right (left Vodice), then quickly reach the next poorer macadam road, where we join the path from Vitovelj (path from Križišče).
We reach the mentioned road at the 7th Station of the Cross, and we ascend along the road through the forest. At the left bend a few minutes distant a nice view opens briefly onto Vitovski hrib, we follow the road to the next junction which is located just before the 12th Station of the Cross.
From the mentioned junction we continue straight (left Skozno, Kopitnik, Veliki Rob, Čaven...), we follow the ever poorer road all the way to the summit of the panoramic Vitovski hrib, on which stands the church of St. Mary.
