Panoramarestaurant Oben - Petzen (Kordeschkopf) (Peca (Kordeževa glava)) (past old cotage)

Access to starting point:
Over the border crossing Jezerski Vrh we drive into Austria, and after approximately 6 km at Železna Kapla / Bad Eisenkappel we turn right towards Velikovec / Völkermarkt (also possible via the border crossing Ljubelj). We follow the main road towards Velikovec for 2 km, and then we again turn right, this time in the direction of the settlement Pliberk / Bleiburg. Further, we drive through the valley of Podjuna, and then at the next larger crossroad we turn right towards Pliberk. The road ahead leads through some roundabout, and we follow it further in the direction of the ski slope Peca / Petzen. Further, we drive through Bistrica pri Pliberku / Feistritz ob Bleiburg to a large parking lot at the bottom station of the cableway on Peca. From the border crossing Jezerski vrh to the starting point, there is approximately 40 km.
b) From Slovenj Gradec we drive to Ravne na Koroškem, and then we continue driving towards the border crossing Holmec. When we drive into Austria we at first drive towards Pliberk / Bleiburg, and then we follow the signs for ski slope Peca / Petzen. Further, we drive through few villages, and we follow the road to a large parking lot at the bottom station of the cableway on Peca. From the border crossing Holmec to the starting point, there is approximately 8 km.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we walk to the bottom cableway station on Peca, buy a ticket, and take the circular-cable car to the upper station of the cableway, which is located by the Panorama restaurant Oben.
From the restaurant, we head onto the path marked with number P4, which leads us along the left side of the chapel of St. Ana, where we initially walk on a macadam road, then continue on a path alongside the ski track, and higher up, also on the ski slope. From the ski track route, we turn left before the steeper section, where we briefly enter the forest. In the forest, the path turns to the right and soon returns to the ski slope, along which we continue to the upper part of the ski slope at an altitude of 1920 meters, where the path splits.
Slightly to the left continues the usual path towards Kordeževa glava, but we continue slightly to the right on path number P4, which leads to steeper slopes. We first descend slightly, then begin to ascend steeply on a steep slope, partly scree, with higher sections aided by stairs made of logs. When, a few minutes higher, the slope becomes slightly less steep, we quickly arrive at the old mountain hut on Peca.
We bypass the cottage on the right side, then ascend for a few more minutes to the national border, where there is a marked crossing.
Here we go left (right Bistriška špica and Končnikov vrh), and after a few dozen strides, we reach the next crossing, where we join the path that branches off slightly to the left at the upper part of the ski slope, and the Slovenian path from Planinski dom na kmetiji Kumer also joins us.
We continue in the direction of Kordeževa glava, and after a further gentle descent, we quickly reach Knipsovo sedlo, where the path from the valley Topla also joins us from the right.
We continue to follow the marked path towards Kordeževa glava and Dom na Peci, and through an indistinct small valley surrounded by dwarf pines, we ascend to a small saddle that connects Velika glava (2077 meters) on the left and the indistinct and less-known two-thousander named Ranta (2069 meters) on the right. Again, some descent follows, and we quickly reach a small valley that separates Velika glava from Kordeževa glava. From here, we start ascending again, and with increasingly beautiful views, in approximately 15 minutes of additional walking, we reach the panoramic highest peak of Peca.
