Parking at botanical garden - Balinovac (direct way)

Access to starting point:
From the highway Zagreb - Split we take the exit Otočac. We follow the road ahead towards the village Krasno and Sjeverni Velebit. The considerably winding road through the village Švica brings us to Krasno, where the road from Senja joins (possible access also from this direction). In Krasno we continue towards the signs for nacionalni park Sjeverni Velebit and Dom Zavižan. The road, which then becomes macadam, brings us to the park entrance, where the entrance fee is collected. Further, we drive on the road which brings us to the intersection at the chapel, where we park at the parking lot.

Path description:
From the parking lot we head towards the botanical garden, whose start we reach after a short descent across a meadow. At the hut at the botanical garden we continue on the left or right path, which bypasses the sinkhole below us on the left or right side. Both paths join on the other side and bring us to a junction, where we head upwards towards Balinovac. The path ahead climbs across a belt of forest and after a few minutes brings us to the bare upper slopes of the mountain. Here the path climbs steeply along the partly rocky slope to the summit.
