Access to starting point:
We leave the Maribor-Graz-Salzburg highway (A9) after a few shorter tunnels outside Graz and continue right on the expressway in the direction of Wien-Bruck/Mur-Peggau.
We then leave the expressway at the exit Frohnleiten and continue right in the direction of Teichalm.
In the place Gschwend we leave the main road and continue on the road to the place Tyrnau, where at the sign "Parkplatz Rote Wand" we turn left.
The narrower asphalt road leads us steeply upwards. After the last houses it passes into a macadam surface and brings us to a larger parking lot, where we park.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the macadam road, which at the beginning leads parallel to the parking lot.
On the road, a nice view of the Rote Wand wall soon opens up to us.
The road slowly ascends to the saddle Bucheben (1081 m), where at the signposts we turn right into the forest.
We continue on the mountain path through the forest. The path becomes steeper.
When we step out of the forest, we cross the slope and continue along the edge above the wall or a little left along the forest. Here a nice view opens up towards the east and south.
The path then leads through the forest for a short time; after approximately 200 m we arrive at the summit.
The path is very well marked and completely undemanding. It offers a nice view and the option of a circular route via the mountain hut Tyrnauer Almhütte back to the parking lot.
