Access to starting point:
First, we drive to Cortina d'Ampezzo (to here possible over the border crossing Rateče or Predel to Trbiž / Tarvisio and then on the highway in the direction of Vidma / Udine to the exit Tolmezzo. From Tolmezzo we follow the road in the direction of the village Ampezzo and the mountain pass Passo della Mauria. The road then descends and brings us to a crossroad, where we continue left (possible also right) in the direction of Cortina d'Ampezzo. At all following crossroads, we follow the signs for Cortina d'Ampezzo.
In Cortina d'Ampezzo then we follow the signs for the Alpine pass Passo di Falzarego. At the mentioned pass we come to a crossroad, where we continue on the left road in the direction of Marmolada and settlement Arabba (right Alta Badia). The road further descends for quite some time, then brings us to a crossroad, where we continue right in the direction of the pass Passo Pordoi (left Marmolada). We follow the relatively wide and ascending road all the way to the mentioned pass, where we park on a large parking lot.
Access from Primorska: We drive on the highway in the direction of Padova, but only to the highway junction, where we continue in the direction of Veneto and Belluno. Near Belluno the highway ends, and we follow the road ahead in the direction of Belluno, where at the larger crossroad we continue right in the direction of the town Agordo. From the mentioned town onwards we follow the signs for settlement Arabba and Alpine pass Passo Pordoi, which is also the starting point for our tour.
Route description:
From the parking lot first we carefully cross the road, then we head on the path no. 627 (direction Piz Boe). The path first ascends somewhat more steeply across a panoramic grassy slope, then it flattens and brings us into a more rocky terrain. The path ahead turns slightly to the left and starts to ascend more steeply again. After a few minutes of further walking, we finally leave the grassy slopes, and the path transitions into gravel terrain, through which we ascend on a quite wide path. The path higher up once again flattens and brings us to a marked junction.
We continue straight on the path no. 627 in the direction of the hut Rifugio Forcella Pordoi and Rifugio Boe (right Ferrata C. Piazzetta). The path ahead transitions into increasingly steep scree, which takes quite some energy. We follow this path, which in the upper part is also exposed to falling stones, all the way to the mountain hut Rifugio Forcella Pordoi, which we reach when we ascend to the top of the already mentioned scree.
From the hut we continue right in the direction of the summit and hut Piz Boe.
Here we walk on the wide path towards the east, right (on the south side) above us are the summits Sass de Forcia Occidentale and Sass de Forcia di Mezzo. When we come between both mentioned summits, on the right we notice not overly steep scree. Here we leave the wide marked path and ascend the mentioned scree, which leads towards a smaller saddle between both summits. On the saddle we continue to the right and on undemanding terrain soon reach the summit.
