Pečica - Boč (Senčna pot)

Access to starting point:
a) From the Celje - Rogaška Slatina road, we drive to the settlement of Podplat, where from the traffic-light intersection next to the Petrol gas station we turn in the direction of Maribor, Slovenska Bistrica and Poljčane. This is followed by an ascent to the Pečica pass, and as we begin to descend towards Lovnik, on the right side at a smaller intersection we notice red alpine signposts for Boč. The described path starts at the intersection, but there are no designated parking spaces.
b) We drive to Poljčane, then continue driving in the direction of Rogaška Slatina and Podčetrtek. The road ahead leads towards the Pečica pass, but just a little before the pass, on the left side of the road at a smaller intersection, we notice red alpine signposts for Boč. The described path starts at the intersection, but there are no designated parking spaces.

Route description:
From the starting point, we head onto the side road marked for Boč, but we continue along the side road leading south. The ascending road, passing individual houses, keeps turning left, so by the last house we are already climbing northwards. Behind the house, the path enters the forest and continues along a cart track, where we follow the markers. This is followed by fairly easy walking with some short ascents and descents, and the path mostly leads eastwards. There follows some traversing above the upper edge of the village Zgornji Gabernik, then we reach the small road pass Galke, located above the mentioned settlement; the road descends to the other side towards Lovnik, i.e., the valley of the Bela stream.
We merely cross the mentioned road and continue following the signs for Boč. For a while we ascend moderately, after a small quarry which we bypass on the left, the path becomes steep. We ascend steeply for a while, and in the last part of the steep ascent a bench awaits us where we can rest; above the bench we quickly reach a marked junction where we join the path from the starting point in the settlement Zgornji Gabernik.
Here the path levels out somewhat, and the marked path continues along the ridge for a short time, then turns right.
Straight ahead continues an unmarked path to the summit of Galk, but we continue right along the marked path, which for a while proceeds without major changes in elevation and leads us past a pleasant bench from which a nice view opens up. This is followed by some more traversing, then we reach a meadow, across which immediately after crossing the road we arrive at the fenced crocus plantation.
We continue towards Dom na Boču, passing through an arranged passage by the plantation, then reach another road where from the right another path joins us, leading from Zgornja Kostrivnica past Koča Velikonočnice towards Boč. We follow the mentioned road to the left, along it for about ten minutes, then after crossing the asphalt road we already arrive at Dom na Boču.
From the hut we go right and follow the signs to the summit of Boč. First we go across the pasture, in the forest the path quickly forks.
We continue right in the direction of Senčna pot (left path over Balunjača and climbing path), then soon go left onto the path that quickly climbs to the forested ridge, where from the right the path from Makole, Brzike and Cerovec pod Bočem joins us.
When we reach the ridge we go left and first ascend moderately through the forest, soon arriving at the windthrow area where we climb along a scenic clearing. For a while we ascend along the clearing, then temporarily return to the ridge, where the path turns left and a little further returns to the forest. In the forest we go right onto the slope across which we ascend traversely, higher up we reach the main, southeastern ridge of Boč, where the path turns left once more and then continues along the forested ridge to the viewpoint tower on Boč.
For the view, it is worth climbing the additional 20-meter-high viewpoint tower, from which an exceptional panorama opens up in all directions.
