Petačev graben - Tošč (via Sveta Jedert)

Access to starting point:
From Horjul or Dobrova we drive to Polhov Gradec, then continue driving towards Črni Vrh. A bit above Polhov Gradec, at the intersection at the confluence of Mala and Velika Božna, we continue straight in the direction of Selo and Škofja Loka (left Črni Vrh). Further we drive along the Mala Božna stream, then along the road we notice hiking direction signs for Selo, Tošč and Črni Vrh, where we also park.

Route description:
Warning: The mountain path from Petačev graben along Selanov potok has been officially abandoned by PZS decision and is no longer maintained. The lower part through the gorge has been heavily damaged in several places by natural processes, so the markings have been removed. Because parts of the former cart track are destroyed, passage on this section is difficult and requires extra caution when following the trail.

On the opposite side of the parking lot we notice a gravel road (direction Selo, Tošč, Črni Vrh and Gabrše), but we follow it only for a few 10 m, then the footpath signs direct us slightly left onto a cart track that ascends along Selanov potok. Along the mentioned stream we ascend for quite some time, then the markings direct us to the left side (right bank) of the stream. The cart track a little further turns sharply left and after a few minutes of further walking leads us out of the forest onto wide meadows. The path then turns sharply right and continues transversely ascending over increasingly scenic slopes. After approximately 45 minutes of walking from the starting point we step onto the road, which we follow to the right (left Ogrin, Črni Vrh, Pasja ravan and Sveti Ožbolt). Further we ascend only for a short time, then after passing a few houses we gradually begin to descend. After a short descent we reach an intersection by a quarry and a chapel. Here we continue right in the direction of Tošč and after a gently ascending road in 10 minutes of further walking we arrive at the church of sv. Jedert.
From sv. Jedert we continue left, first across a scenic meadow that ends at a strip of sparse forest. We continue the ascent on a well-traceable path that ascends for some time along the edge of increasingly steep meadows, then the path enters dense forest where it gradually levels. Higher up the path turns slightly to the right and gradually passes onto the northwest forested ridge of Tošč, where a less visited path from the Vodnik homestead joins from the left. The path continues in moderate ascent crossing several scenic slopes, then begins to ascend more steeply. We follow this somewhat steeper path in the final section all the way to the summit of Tošč, which we reach after a few minutes of further walking.
