Access to starting point:
A) From the Ljubljana - Jesenice highway, take the Vodice exit, then continue driving to the first traffic-light intersection in Vodice, where we continue left towards Cerklje na Gorenjskem and Brnik. When we arrive at the main roundabout in Spodnji Brnik, continue driving towards Cerklje and Krvavec ski area. At the end of the settlement Cerklje na Gorenjskem, leave the main road which continues towards Velesovo and Visoko, and continue slightly right on the road towards the Krvavec ski area. Further on, we arrive at the village Grad, where signs for the settlement Ambrož pod Krvavcem direct us right onto a steep asphalt road (straight: lower station of the gondola to Krvavec and Štefanja Gora). When the steepness on the steep road eases somewhat, we will arrive at an intersection, where we continue left towards the settlement Ambrož pod Krvavcem (straight: settlements Ravne, Apno and Šenturška Gora). A little further, the road temporarily descends a little, then ascends through occasionally quite panoramic slopes. Higher, we arrive at Ambrož pod Krvavcem, where on the left side we bypass the church of St. Ambrož and tourist farm Pr Ambružarju. From the tourist farm onwards, the road enters the forest and ascends through it all the way to Planina Jezerca, where there is a large arranged parking lot.
B) From the Jesenice - Ljubljana highway, take the Kranj - east exit, then continue driving towards Brnik, Komenda and Mengeš. Route description:
At the end of the parking lot, where the road turns left, but to the right a road branches off towards the nearby Planina Jezerca, we will notice red mountain signposts that direct us straight onto the marked footpath towards Kriška planina, Vrh Korena, Košutna, Kompotela and Mokrica, which ascends over the pastures of the aforementioned mountain pasture. After a short ascent we reach a cart track, which we follow to the left, crossing the slopes of Kržišče (1658 m). The cart track along which we walk soon splits into two parts, and we continue straight on the lower one. Temporarily a nice view opens towards Kranj, Škofjeloško hribovje and Storžič, then the path begins to descend gently. A few more minutes of walking follow, then we arrive at the parking lot at the lower part of Kriška planina.
From the parking lot we continue towards Planina Koren and continue along a poorer macadam road that goes through the underpass under the ski slope. After the underpass, the marked path turns slightly left from the road, continuing parallel to the road along a sort of spruce avenue. When after a few minutes of gentle ascent we reach the eastern edge of Kriška planina, where there is a small watering place for animals, we continue slightly left across the pasture fence (right: Planina Osredek and Kamniški vrh), but continue the gentle ascent in approximately the same direction. Ahead, the path from the mountain pasture transitions to somewhat steeper slopes of Krvavec, across which we ascend transversely to a vantage point from which a nice view opens towards Kržišče (Pokovše), the ridge of Kamniški vrh, the Korošica valley, Velika planina, and towards nearby Košutna and Veliki Zvoh.
From the vantage point, which is located a few steps to the right off the path, we begin to descend more steeply towards the hunting hut above the Korošica valley. When the descent ends and the path continues without major elevation changes, we will reach a visible but poorly marked junction, where to the right a path branches off to the aforementioned hunting hut and further towards the Korošica valley and Kamniška Bistrica valley. At this junction we continue slightly left and begin to ascend gently through the forest. The path quickly exits the forest into bushes and dwarf pines, then gradually leads us across the pasture fence to the next unmarked junction, which is located right in the middle of a sharp right bend.
The marked footpath towards Planina Koren continues sharply right, but we continue straight on a less trodden but still well-followable path that further to the left crosses the slopes below Veliki Zvoh. During the crossing we soon cross a smaller gully, crossing which on dry ground poses no problems, but if there is still snow in the gully, which can happen in late spring or early summer, the crossing is dangerous as the gully ends in a drop. Further on the path ascends transversely, and besides nice views we can also admire various mountain flowers (Carniolan lily, Turk's cap lily...). Higher up the path leads across a small scree and an interesting rocky cliff. We bypass the cliff, on which there is a memorial plaque, on the left side, then gradually enter a belt where the path is temporarily somewhat more overgrown. When the overgrown section ends, we continue slightly right, then along a less visible path in a few minutes ascend to the edge of the Krvavec ski slopes.
We reach the ski slope at the Razor saddle, where we must first cross the safety fence, then continue left towards Krvavec and Dom na Krvavcu (right: Veliki Zvoh and Planina Dolga njiva) and continue along the road, which soon splits into two parts. At the junction we choose the upper left road (slightly right: Dom na Krvavcu) and ascend along it in under 10 minutes to the summit of Krvavec.
