Access to starting point:
First, we drive to Tolmin, from there we follow the road in the direction of Zatolmin (main road we leave at the traffic light). In Zatolmin we notice signposts for Javorca, which point us on an ascending road towards Javorca. Occasionally quite narrow and in parts precipitous road after approximately 8 km of driving brings us to a smaller crossroad, where the road towards Javorca branches off to the left upwards. We continue straight and after a few dozen meters, we will notice a signpost for the village Čadrg on the right side of the road. Here is the beginning of the footpath. The marked parking lot is situated approximately 100 meters further along the road.
Path description:
If we've parked at a marked parking lot, we return along the road approximately 100 meters to a signpost for Čadrg. The signpost directs us downward onto a narrow footpath that descends towards the river Tolminka. After descending through the forest, the path leads us to a bridge over which, at our own risk, we cross the river Tolminka. On the other side of the Tolminka, the path initially ascends somewhat steeply, then continues for some time, crossing occasionally quite steep slopes towards the south. From the path, beautiful views open up here on the nearby peaks above the Tolminka valley. Such a path then leads us past the upper station of a cargo cableway to the Podlogar farm, where there is a junction with signposts.
We continue in the direction of the village Čadrg, and after a short ascent, the path leads us into the forest where there is another junction. Both paths lead towards the village Čadrg. The left path is somewhat steeper, but we take the right one, which is also slightly better trodden.
From the junction, we thus continue along the right path, which soon crosses the stream Podpasica and then, mostly in a gentle ascent, traverses the slopes towards the south. Later, the path turns slightly to the left and leads us to the next junction. The signpost here directs us left, and the path begins to ascend more steeply through the forest. Such a path then brings us to a meadow from which we can already see the nearby village Čadrg. We continue along the footpath across the meadow, which transitions into a cart track that leads us to an asphalt road in the village Čadrg.
We turn left and continue along the asphalt road through the village, following the signs for the parking lot at the crossroads. We follow the road all the way to the end of the village, where there is another junction. To the right upwards leads the path towards Planina Kal and mountain pasture Planina Prode, but we continue left downwards in the direction of the vantage point Žlejžn. After a short descent along the cart track, the previously mentioned steep path joins us from the left. We continue along the cart track, which later leads us past benches with a table, where there is also an information board about karst ponds (small and shallow hollows on karst ground, filled with water). The path then leads us past a lime kiln (kiln for burning lime), beside which there is another information board. Follows only a gentle ascent on a grassy slope, which leads us to the vantage point Žlejžn. At the vantage point, offering a beautiful view towards the Tolminka valley and the nearby peaks above it, there are also benches with a table and another information board.
