Access to starting point:
First, we drive to Tolmin, from there we follow the road in the direction of Zatolmin (main road we leave at the traffic light). In Zatolmin we notice signposts for Javorca, which point us on an ascending road towards Javorca. Occasionally quite narrow and in parts precipitous road after approximately 8 km of driving brings us to a smaller crossroad, where the road towards Javorca branches off to the left upwards. We continue straight and after approximately 100 meters we reach a marked parking lot where we park.
Path description:
From the marked parking lot we continue on the macadam road, which is further closed to public traffic. The road initially runs alongside pastures and then leads us past a shepherd cottage on Planina Polog. We continue along the scenic road, which soon turns into a cart track and leads us into the forest. The cart track, which ascends only slightly, quickly brings us to a marked crossroads.
Here we leave the cart track leading towards the source of Tolminka and turn onto the right cart track, which transitions into a footpath after a few meters. Next follows a descent towards the river Tolminka, where we reach an interesting hand-operated cableway. With the help of the hand-operated cableway, the use of which is at our own responsibility, we cross the river. On the other side, we ascend the slope above the river, which leads us into the forest. Here the footpath becomes less steep and guides us past several ruins. Along this path, we soon reach Planina Prode, where there are a few cottages and ruins.
On the mountain pasture where there are also signposts, we turn right in the direction of the village Čadrg. The path soon ascends diagonally and leads us into the forest. Further, we continue slightly ascending through the forest in the direction towards the south. Such a path brings us to a bench by the trail where a view opens up slightly on the valley of the river Tolminka. Here the path turns slightly to the left and soon crosses the stream Gorenja Grapa. The path then continues in the direction towards the south and keeps mostly ascending through the forest, while also crossing a few smaller gullies. We continue ascending through the forest, and higher up, the path leads us past another bench. The path we are ascending is also used by mountain bikers, so further along the trail, we will notice a few smaller jumps. Later, the path leads us past benches where a beautiful view opens up towards the river Tolminka and the surrounding peaks. From here, the path mostly descends for some time and later transitions into a cart track. A little lower, we cross a grassy slope where livestock grazes in the summer months. Further, we follow the cart track through the forest for some time and continue mostly slightly descending. On such a cart track, we then reach a marked crossing near the village Čadrg.
To the left, the path leads upwards towards Planina Kal, but we continue straight and slightly descend to the village Čadrg, where, just before reaching the first houses, there is another crossing.
Here, we turn sharply right, where a signpost directs us to the vantage point Žlejžn. After a short descent on a cart track, a steep path from Javorca or Planina Polog joins from the left. We continue along the cart track, which later leads us past benches with a table, where there is also an information board about karst ponds (small and shallow hollows on karst ground, filled with water). The path then leads us past a lime kiln (kiln for burning lime), beside which there is another information board. Follows only a gentle ascent on a grassy slope, which leads us to the vantage point Žlejžn. At the vantage point, offering a beautiful view towards the Tolminka valley and the nearby peaks above it, there are also benches with a table and another information board.
