Access to starting point:
a) Leave the A1 motorway at the Split exit and continue driving on the expressway towards Split. Leave it at the first exit and continue towards Drniš and Knin. In Gornji Muć turn right and in the village of Sutina turn left towards Zelovo. Drive to the turn-off for Svilaja (the turn-off is not signposted from this side!), where we turn left. Follow the asphalt road for another approximately 2.5 km, where we turn right onto the gravel road and after three km arrive at the intersection before the hut, where we turn right and park in the small parking lot before the hut.
b) Drive to Knin and from there follow towards Kijev and Vrlika. Drive through Vrlika and along Perućko Lake to the place Hrvace, where pay attention to the turn-off on the right for Zelovo. Turn and when arriving in Zelovo, pay attention to the turn-off to the right for Svilaja. Follow the asphalt road for another approximately 2.5 km, where we turn right onto the gravel road and after three km arrive at the intersection before the hut, where we turn right and park in the small parking lot before the hut.
Path description:
From the hut we continue along the path or back to the intersection and proceed towards Svilaja. After a short ascent, the road levels out and to the left one of the paths to Svilaja and Jarebinjak branches off. We continue along the road that crosses the slopes of Jarebinjeka and Crni Umac. After approximately half an hour walking from the hut, we reach a small apiary and the turn-off to Umac. We continue along the road. The road gently descends, then crosses the slopes. After 20 minutes of crossing, we reach the turn-off to Svilaja. We continue left. The path steeply ascends through the forest. The path is overgrown in places. After 15 minutes of steep ascent, the path reaches wide grassy and panoramic slopes of Vršina (1466 m). From here, besides the markers, poles help with orientation. The path crosses to the junction, where the path past Jarebinjaka joins from the left. We continue right and proceed with crossing the somewhat steeper slopes of Vršina, with some short rocky sections in between. After half an hour of crossing, we arrive at the wide saddle between Svilaja and Vršina. The path turns slightly left and via a short rocky step passes to the western slopes of Svilaje. The path gets lost a bit here, so carefully follow the markers. After a few minutes of steep ascent, we arrive below the forepeak, which we bypass on the right. Finally, the last ascent to the summit of Svilaje awaits, where a view in all directions awaits us.
