Access to starting point:
A) From the Ljubljana–Novo Mesto highway, take the Grosuplje exit (from the Ljubljana direction, the Cikava exit is also possible), then continue driving towards the center of Grosuplje. From Grosuplje, continue driving in the direction of Veliko Mlačevo, Mala and Velika Račna and Videm. From Veliko Mlačevo continue right (straight to Lobček and Luče), then continue driving towards Videm. In Videm we join the road from Rašica, follow it left (towards the south) and drive to the turn-off of the road towards the village Podpeč. In Podpeč we continue right and through the village we drive another 100 m or so, then behind one of the residential houses we turn sharply left towards the nearby church of St. Martin, by which we park on a macadam parking lot.
B) From the Ljubljana–Kočevje road at the settlement Rašica we turn left (from the Kočevje direction right) in the direction of Ponikve, Predstrug and Videm. When we arrive in Predstrug we reach the Dobrepolje valley, and we drive through Videm to the turn-off of the road towards the village Podpeč. In Podpeč we continue right and through the village we drive another 100 m or so, then behind one of the residential houses we turn sharply left towards the nearby church of St. Martin, by which we park on a macadam parking lot.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we head onto a relatively steep macadam road, on which we walk only a few steps, as the blazes then lead us left into the forest (along the path, we will notice signs "KV" which indicate Kamen vrh). For some time we moderately ascend through the forest on a well-marked path, then we reach a forest road, which we follow to the left (straight ahead uphill footpath to Kamen vrh).
We continue the path on a relatively gently sloping macadam road, which after good 10 minutes of further walking splits into two parts. We choose the right road, which a few meters further crosses the marked path Podgora - Kamen vrh.
We continue on the macadam road, which gently to moderately ascends towards the left, higher it temporarily turns sharply right and brings us to an intersection.
From the intersection we continue on the left road (the right road leads towards Kamen vrh), which continues to diagonally ascend through the forest. Higher the path temporarily leads across a panoramic slope, from where a beautiful view opens towards Dobrepolje and Suha krajina. In continuation the road returns to the forest, and we walk along it to a smaller left bend, where we reach another marked path that leads towards the summit of Grmada.
At the mentioned spot we leave the road and continue the ascent on the marked or parallel better-trodden unmarked path. Both paths join after a few minutes of ascent and bring us to the Koča na Grmadi hut above Ortnek, from which a beautiful view opens.
The summit of Grmada is a few dozen steps further.
By the hut we notice signs for sv. Ana, which direct us onto a macadam road that begins to descend towards the smaller village Vrh pri Poljanah. Before we reach the houses in the village, the road becomes asphalt, then behind the houses we arrive at a smaller intersection by a larger masonry chapel.
We continue straight on the asphalt road (via the left road, or lower mountain path, we can reach Podgora or Podpeč), from which soon to the right branches a marked footpath towards Ortnek, but we continue straight on the descending road, which also leads towards the village Ortnek. With views of the surrounding hills, and with good visibility also on Snežnik, we quickly arrive at the right bend, where we continue straight onto the marked cart track in the direction of sv. Ana. The cart track or slightly further the footpath gradually enters the forest and crosses the slopes of Vrbovec. After a few minutes we reach another cart track, on which we continue in the direction of sv. Ana, but walk on it only briefly, as the marked path soon turns slightly right from it (this section is not well marked). There follow a few more minutes of walking through the forest, then we descend via yet another cart track to a macadam road, which we follow to the left (right Velike Poljane and Ortnek).
From the point where we join the road we continue the diagonal ascent through the forest for some time, then arrive at a somewhat larger intersection, where we continue straight in the direction of Sv. Ana (via the road sharply left we can reach Kompolje or Rapljevo). There follow a few minutes of gentle to moderate ascent, then after an indistinct saddle between the summits Tisovec (931 m) and Špičnik (926 m) the path begins to descend. A few minutes' descent follows, then the signs for Sv. Ana direct us left onto a somewhat poorer road that begins to ascend more steeply (the wider road we leave leads towards Ribnica). We walk a few minutes up the ascending road, then the blazes lead us somewhat more to the right onto a marked footpath that continues through the forest. When the path levels out completely after a few minutes, we reach a cart track and follow it left, walking along the edge of a smaller valley where wild garlic grows in springtime.
Somewhere in the middle of the valley, a relatively well-marked path turns right and passes onto the slopes of the summit Stene sv. Ane. For a few minutes we ascend relatively steeply to the right, then the signs for Sv. Ana direct us sharply left from the cart track onto an even steeper footpath. A relatively steep ascent follows, then after a few minutes the path levels and in a few more steps brings us to the point where a short path branches left to a nearby viewpoint.
From the viewpoint we return to the mentioned junction, from there we continue in the direction of Sv. Ana. A short traverse follows, then from the left joins the path from the settlement Struge, a few steps further to the right branches the path to the summit Stene sv. Ane (straight Koča pri sv. Ani na Mali gori).
From the junction one more minute of walking follows and we reach the summit, on which there is a geodetic tower.
