Podvin pri Polzeli - Gora Oljka (upper path)

Access to starting point:
We leave the Styrian motorway at the Šempeter exit, then we follow the signs for Polzelo. Through Polzelo we follow the main road, then at the pizzeria and inn AS caffe we continue right onto the street Pot na Vimperk 3-16. We continue past individual houses, then the asphalt road begins to ascend more noticeably. At the farm Cizej-Sevšek we arrive at the settlement Podvin pri Polzeli, where at the intersection we go right, and a little further we arrive at the parking lot where we park.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue slightly left on a macadam road which leads us past a cross and by which we notice signs for Vimperk. The road quickly enters the forest and in a few minutes of a diagonal ascent brings us to a small saddle, where the "upper" path to Gora Oljka branches off to the right.
We continue right in the direction of Gora Oljka (further on the road Vinski vrh or Vimperk) and continue walking on the marked footpath. A little further a light descent follows, where the forest temporarily ends, and by the path we notice Stations of the Cross, which then accompany us along the rest of the path. A slight ascent towards Vimperk (442 m) follows, then along a cart track we reach an asphalt road, which we follow to the right. Along the asphalt road we ascend to the "last" house, which we bypass on the left side, then past an old millstone we pass onto a transverse path, which gradually turns to the left. Some more traversing follows, then a path joins us from the right, which leads past the birth house of the writer, poet, journalist... Neža Maurer.
We continue straight ahead, first with nice views, then past an older house we reach a macadam road which enters the forest, along which we continue to a marked intersection, where we reach the road leading towards Gora Oljka.
We continue along the road in the direction of Gora Oljka (to the left along the road we descend into the valley, the right road continues through the settlement Dobrič), along which we quickly arrive at the plague column and inscription box. Here a road branches off to the right to the marked parking lot and Tourist agency Nasmeh, while we continue straight and continue walking along the asphalt road. Higher up the road leads us past nice views, at the former inn Jug a path from Podgora joins us from the left.
We continue along the road for another 10 meters or so, then signs for Gora Oljka direct us left onto a cart track which enters the forest. We continue through the forest, first along the cart track, then along a somewhat steeper marked path, which higher up crosses the cart track several more times or occasionally continues along it. Higher, after the flat section, another path joins us from the right, which branches off from the road higher up, and we continue left, arriving in a few minutes of moderate ascent at the mountain hut on Gora Oljka, and after ascending the stairs also at the church of the Holy Cross.
