Potoče - Planinska koča pri Franciju (cart track)

Access to starting point:
A) From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Kranj - east, and then we continue driving in the direction of Jezersko. When we get to Preddvor we leave the main road and continue driving left, and after some 10 meters, opposite the company Jelovica we continue right in the direction of the village Potoče, St. Jakob and Potoška gora and lake Črnava. Further, the road leads us through the settlement Hrib, above which we arrive at a crossroad, where we continue straight (left Hotel Bor and lake Črnava, right Senior Citizens' Home Preddvor). There follows about 100 m of gentle ascent to the chapel, where the road turns right, we drive along it past a few more houses, and then before the Senior Citizens' Home we turn left onto a larger macadam parking lot.
B) From the highway Jesenice - Ljubljana we go to the exit Kranj - west and at the first crossroad we continue left. Further, we drive through the underpass under the highway, then we arrive at a roundabout, from which we continue driving in the direction of Golnik. The path ahead leads us through the settlement Mlaka pri Kranju, and at the end of the settlement we continue right in the direction of the settlement Srakovlje. Next follows driving through Srakovlje, Spodnja Bela, Srednja Bela to Zgornja Bela, where we continue right towards Preddvor. At the end of Preddvor, only some 10 meters before the road joins the main road Zgornje Jezersko - Kranj, we continue left in the direction of the village Potoče, St. Jakob and Potoška gora and lake Črnava. Further, the road leads us through the settlement Hrib, above which we arrive at a crossroad, where we continue straight (left Hotel Bor and lake Črnava, right Senior Citizens' Home Preddvor). There follows about 100 m of gentle ascent to the chapel, where the road turns right, we drive along it past a few more houses, and then before the Senior Citizens' Home we turn left onto a larger macadam parking lot.

Path description:
From the starting point we continue on the macadam road, which after less than 10 minutes brings us to a smaller crossroad, where the road crosses the marked path that leads from Senčnica Josipine Turnograjske towards Planinska koča Iskra na Jakobu. From here the road leads for a short time through the forest, then we arrive at the edge of a smaller clearing, where there is an apiary.
Before the apiary we continue on the left road (straight sv. Jakob on the forest road), which continues through the forest. After a few minutes the road ends or changes into a cart track, on which we continue the ascent. The cart track higher up crosses the newly built forest road several times, which we leave near a smaller shrine and continue left, past the shrine, on a wide cart track.
We continue on the cart track, from which first to the right branches the usual path to Planinska koča Iskra na Jakobu, a little further Juhantova pot and just before Francijeva koča also the path past Francijeva koča. All the time we continue on the cart track, and thus without major difficulties we arrive at a nice viewpoint located before the mentioned mountain hut.
