From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Ljubljana - Šmartno, and we follow the road to the mentioned settlement, where we turn right on the road which leads towards Vodice. Further, we drive towards Vodice, and at the first crossroad after the overpass over the highway we turn right, where after 100 meters of driving we get to the fish farm Povodje. At the starting point there are no arranged parking spots, but we can find a suitable place somewhere nearby.
Path description:
By the fish farm we notice signs for Vrh Staneta Kosca, which point us to the left on an asphalt road, on which we walk to the houses there. Further, over the bridge we cross a stream and then we continue on the road which is closed to public traffic by a traffic sign. We continue on the road for approximately 100 meters and then the blazes direct us right onto a cart track which starts gently ascending. When we step into the forest, the blazes from the cart track direct us to the right on a footpath which ascends diagonally through the forest. A little higher, the path turns to the left and starts ascending more steeply. Because the path ahead has quite a few smaller branchings, we carefully follow the blazes so as not to stray from the right path. Higher, the path brings us below the steep slopes of Mali vrh, which we bypass on the right side. After a few minutes of additional walking, the path flattens and brings us onto a macadam road.
When we step on the road, we follow it in the direction of Vrh Staneta Kosca, on which with some shorter ascents and descents we walk for quite some time. A little higher we come to a junction of equivalent roads, and we continue right on the marked road, on which we quickly arrive at the next junction, where the path from the village Rašica joins from the right.
Here we continue straight on the marked footpath (or also left on the road), which further ascends moderately to occasionally steeply through the forest. Higher the path returns to the road and brings us to the mountain hut in a few dozen steps.
From the hut we continue on a gently sloping path in the direction of the lookout tower, which we reach after a minute of additional walking. For a nice view, it is worth ascending the 17-meter-high lookout tower as well.
