Povodje - Šmarna gora (Partizanska steza)

Access to starting point:
From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Ljubljana - Šmartno, and we follow the road to the mentioned settlement, where we turn right on the road which leads towards Vodice. Further, we drive towards Vodice, and at the first crossroad after overpass over the highway we turn right, where after 100 meters of driving, we get to fish farm Povodje. At the starting point, there aren't any parking spots, but we can find appropriate place somewhere nearby.

Path description:
From the starting point, we go on at first overgrown path in the direction of Šmarna gora, on which in few 10 strides we ascend to overpass over the highway. On sidewalk we walk on the other side of the highway, there we carefully cross the road, and then we go on a marked footpath which continues by a wire fence. At first, we walk on an overgrown path, and then we join the cart track which for quite some time continues parallel with the highway. After a short gentle descent cart track turns to the left, and we still continue by the highway. Relatively badly marked path then turns to the left and it brings us to a large meadow. Here we continue slightly right and almost by the edge of a meadow, we walk to the nearby forest, where we join a little better marked path from Skaručna. Here we continue left, we cross the stream Gračenica, and then we start gently ascending. The path ahead leads us below the power line, little ahead it returns into the forest and crosses the macadam road. A little above the road we join rough cart track, on which we gradually start ascending steeper and steeper. Higher, we leave the cart track and on a little more steep path in few minutes we ascend to the path which almost circles Šmarna gora. We follow the mentioned path to the left (right Turkovo znamenje, Šmarna gora and Grmada) and there start gently descending. After approximately 50 meters, on a tree we notice a sign P, which points us right on the path which ascends steeper for a short time, and then it flattens and joins narrower cart track. Further cart track starts gently descending and is slowly turning more and more to the right. After few minutes of easy descent, we get to a marked crossing, where we reach the path from Šmartno and Tacen. Here we continue sharply right on the path Partizanska steza.
From the crossing ahead, the path becomes steeper and passes on much steeper slopes, which are mainly in snow and ice dangerous for slipping. Further, we are ascending in zig-zags on a steep slope, well made and maintained path, after a time brings us to a bench, from which a nice view opens up towards the valley. Above the bench, the path passes on a ridge, on which we ascend right below the peak of Šmarna gora. Here the path from the ridge passes on a slope, over which in few 10 strides of additional walking, we ascend to the summit of Šmarna gora.
