Povodje - Šmarna gora (Partizanska steza)

Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana–Jesenice highway, take the Ljubljana–Šmartno exit and follow the road to the mentioned settlement, where we turn right onto the road leading towards Vodice. We then continue towards Vodice, and at the first intersection after the overpass over the highway we turn right, where after 100 meters of driving we arrive at the fish farm Povodje. At the starting point there are no designated parking spaces, but we can find a suitable place nearby.

Path description:
From the starting point, we head onto the initially overgrown path in the direction of Šmarna gora, along which in a few dozen steps we ascend to the overpass over the highway. Along the sidewalk we walk to the other side of the highway, there we carefully cross the road, then we head onto the marked footpath that continues along the wire fence. Initially we walk along the overgrown path, then we join the cart track, which continues parallel to the highway for quite some time. After a short gentle descent the cart track turns left, but we continue alongside the highway. The relatively poorly marked path then turns left and leads us to a large meadow. Here we continue slightly to the right and walk almost along the edge of the meadow to the nearby forest, where we join the somewhat better marked path from Skaručna. Here we continue left, cross the Gračenica stream, then we begin to ascend gently. The path ahead leads us under the power line, a little further it returns to the forest and crosses the macadam road. Somewhat above the road we join the rutted cart track, along which we gradually begin to ascend ever steeper. Higher up we leave the cart track and along a somewhat steeper path in a few minutes ascend to the path that almost encircles Šmarna gora. We follow the mentioned path to the left (right: Turkovo znamenje, Šmarna gora and Grmada) and along it we begin to descend gently. After approximately 50 m, we notice the P sign on a tree, which directs us right onto the path that ascends more steeply for a short time, then levels out and joins a narrower cart track. Continuing, the cart track begins to descend gently and slowly turns increasingly to the right. After a few minutes of easy descent, we arrive at a marked junction, where we reach the path from Šmartno and Tacen. Here we continue sharply right onto the Partizanska steza.
From the junction onward, the path becomes steeper and leads onto substantially steeper slopes, which are especially dangerous for slipping in snow and ice. Further we ascend in switchbacks along the steep slope; the well-made and maintained path brings us after some time to a bench, from which a nice view opens towards the valley. Above the bench, the path transitions to the ridge, along which we ascend right below the summit of Šmarna gora. Here the path from the ridge transitions to the slope, across which in a few dozen steps of further walking we ascend to the summit of Šmarna gora.
