Access to starting point:
We leave Štajerska highway at the Šentrupert exit, and then we follow the signs for Prebold. In the center of Prebold, at the red hiking signposts, the described path begins, and we park at one of the parking lots in the center of the settlement, by the kindergarten, the primary school, or the cemetery.
Path description:
From the center of Prebold we follow the signs for Mrzlica, Golava, and Hom and initially walk on the sidewalk along road Reška cesta, where blazes soon direct us right onto the street Skozi Gaj, passing a few more houses, and at the edge of a meadow, the path splits again.
To the left we continue the path towards Golava and Mrzlica, but we proceed straight through the meadow in the direction of Žvajga. On the upper part of the meadow, when we look back, a beautiful view opens up on Prebold, Gora Oljka, Uršlja gora, and other mountains, but we continue along the road to the right into the forest. Before the last house in this part of the settlement, we turn right onto a cart track, where we initially walk alongside a pasture, then enter the forest, following the blazes at the crossroads. Next follows a slightly steeper ascent along the forested northeastern ridge, then we reach a macadam road, which we only cross. On the other side of the road, we steeply ascend for a few meters via a ladder or a parallel secured path, but the passage is not particularly challenging.
Further on, we mostly ascend along the ridge, and higher up, the path splits. We continue on the left path, which bypasses the northern peak of Žvajga, where an inscription box, stamp, and bench are located. This path is slightly shorter than the one over the peak. Initially, we ascend gently, followed by a few minutes of traversing. When the traversing ends, the path that led over the peak joins from the right. We descend along a cart track to the homestead Počivalnik, which we bypass on the right side, and behind it, we reach the crossroads at the saddle at Počivalnik.
Here, a slightly shorter path from Prebold, passing by linden tree Dežnikarjeva lipa, joins from the right. We continue straight towards the cottage Dom pod Reško planino and Tolsti vrh, walking for a short time along the eastern ridge of Tolsti vrh. When the ridge begins to ascend more noticeably, the path splits, and we choose the slightly left path (slightly right Tolsti vrh).
Next follows a somewhat longer crossing along a cart track, where we walk on the southeastern slopes of Tolsti vrh, leaving the slopes of Tolsti vrh at Završnik farm. Here, the path leads us through the yard, then we descend along an access path to an asphalt road, which we follow to the right toward Reška planina.
Next follows a diagonal ascent along the asphalt road, where the path initially leads along the slopes of Strtnik, and later we reach the slopes of Reška planina.
When we reach the saddle between Reška planina on the right and Lipovški hrib on the left, the path splits before a nearby homestead.
We continue straight toward Dom pod Reško planino (right circular learning path Marija Reka, with the option to also reach Strtnik, Reška planina, Grajska vas...), descending with beautiful views of part of the Posavsko hribovje.
Behind the Mehan homestead, we approach a saddle connecting Gradišče with Reška planina, and just before the saddle, we leave the road and turn right onto a footpath toward Dom pod Reško planino.
Just a few steps further, a path from Prebold joins from the left, leading over Gradišče or starting at quarry Strgarjev kamnolom, and we continue along the path that returns to the forest, then proceeds across the slopes of Reška planina, noticing some boards of the learning path along the way. As we approach the church of St. Mary of the Assumption, the marked path turns left and slightly descends, then we ascend in a few steps to near the mountain hut, from which we are only a few dozen steps of easy walking away.
Before the mountain hut, we turn right and continue toward Reška planina. We quickly leave the road and proceed along a footpath, ascending to the church.
We bypass the church on the left side, and from the crossing, we continue straight toward Adijev bivouac and Reška planina (left Šmiglova zidanica, Sveta planina or Partizanski vrh, Mrzlica, and Grajska vas). We follow an older cart track that turns right, and after a short traverse, it becomes a footpath. The footpath initially ascends alongside a torrent ditch, crosses it higher up, and then transitions to a steep slope over which we climb steeply. A steep ascent follows, requiring extra caution, especially during descent, to avoid slipping. Even in dry conditions, some care is needed. When we reach the ridge higher up, the path flattens. We continue left, following the signs for the stamp. After a few minutes of mostly gentle ascent along the ridge, we reach bivouac Adijev bivak na Reški planini.
The starting point - saddle at Počivalnik 1:05, saddle at Počivalnik - Dom pod Reško planino 1:25, Dom pod Reško planino - Adijev bivak 0:45.
