Preddvor - Novi grad (Pusti grad)

Access to starting point:
A) From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice, we take the exit Kranj - east, then continue driving in the direction of Jezersko. When we arrive in Preddvor, we leave the main road and continue left, then immediately after the small bridge over the Bistrica we park on the parking lot on the left side of the road. The parking lot is located on the outer side of the Jelovica complex.
B) From the highway Jesenice - Ljubljana, we take the exit Kranj - west and at the first intersection continue left. We then drive through the underpass under the highway, then arrive at a roundabout, from which we continue driving in the direction of Golnik. The route ahead leads us through the settlement Mlaka pri Kranju, and at the end of the settlement we continue right in the direction of the settlement Srakovlje. This is followed by driving through Srakovlje, Spodnja Bela, Srednja Bela to Zgornja Bela, where we continue right towards Preddvor. At the end of Preddvor, just a few 10 m before the road joins the main road Zgornje Jezersko - Kranj, we will notice a larger macadam parking lot by the Jelovica complex, where we park.

Path description:
From the parking lot, first carefully cross the road, then continue on a narrower asphalt road in the direction of the villages Potoče and Hrib, lake Črnava, Hotel Bor and castle Hrib as well as St. Jakob and Potoška gora. Immediately after crossing the road, we leave Preddvor and over a small bridge step into the village Hrib, through which the road begins first gently, then moderately to ascend. When the settlement ends, on the right soon opens a nice view towards Storžič, Cjanovci, Hudičev boršt, St. Jakob and also towards the hill Senčnica Josipine Turnograjske. A little further, the road flattens and brings us to a crossroads, where we continue straight in the direction of Senčnica Josipine Turnograjske, Novi grad (Pusti grad), St. Jakob and Potoška gora (left lake Črnava, Hotel Bor, castle Hrib, right Senior Citizens' Home Preddvor) and continue on the ascending asphalt road. A little higher, at the chapel a path from the center of Preddvor joins from the left, we continue right, where past a few houses we arrive at the fence of the Senior Citizens' Home Preddvor. Here the road turns left and leads inter alia to the nearby parking lot, we continue on the footpath that continues along the fence.
A well-marked path, which we follow in the direction of Senčnica Josipine Turnograjske, takes us into the forest, through which it begins to ascend more steeply. Through the forest we ascend steeply for a few minutes, then the path flattens and brings us to Senčnica Josipine Turnograjske, where there is also a stamping box with a logbook.
From the top follows a short descent along a forest path, then we reach a forest road, which we follow to the left, along which we descend lightly for a short time. Soon we reach another wider road (road that leads from the parking lot near the Senior Citizens' Home Preddvor and that bypasses Senčnica Josipine Turnograjske), which we cross slightly to the left, where at the entrance into the forest we notice red mountain signposts (to here also possible along the aforementioned road).
We continue in the direction of the ruins of Novi grad (Pusti grad) and footpaths towards St. Jakob and Potoška gora. The path ahead ascends moderately through a forested valley, then splits into two parts.
We choose the left path, named Juhantova pot, which leads towards St. Jakob (slightly right the usual marked path towards St. Jakob, Potoška gora, Javorov vrh...), which already after a minute or two splits again.
In the straight direction continues the marked but further unmarked path towards St. Jakob, we continue left along the still marked path in the direction of Novi grad. Follows a short ascent and we reach a smaller saddle, where we continue left along a wider mountain path. The forest path then ascends transversely and gradually turns to the right. A little further the path turns even more to the right and brings us to the ruins of Novi grad.
From the top we can descend along a marked circular path, which returns to the above-described path at a smaller saddle just below the summit.
