Preddvor - Planinska koča pri Franciju (Juhantova pot)

Access to starting point:
A) From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice, we take the exit Kranj - east, and then continue driving in the direction of Jezersko. When we arrive in Preddvor, we leave the main road and continue left, and then immediately after the small bridge over the Bistrica we park on the parking lot on the left side of the road. The parking lot is located on the outer side of the Jelovice complex.
B) From the highway Jesenice - Ljubljana, we take the exit Kranj - west and at the first intersection continue left. We then drive through the underpass under the highway, and then arrive at a roundabout, from which we continue driving in the direction of Golnik. The route ahead leads us through the settlement Mlaka pri Kranju, and at the end of the settlement we continue right in the direction of the settlement Srakovlje. This is followed by driving through Srakovlje, Spodnja Bela, Srednja Bela to Zgornje Bela, where we continue right towards Preddvor. At the end of Preddvor, just a few tens of meters before the road joins the main road Zgornje Jezersko - Kranj, we will notice by the Jelovice complex a larger macadam parking lot, where we park.

Path description:
From the parking lot, first we carefully cross the road, then we continue on a narrower asphalt road in the direction of the villages Potoče and Hrib, lake Črnava, Hotel Bor and castle Hrib and St. Jakob and Potoška gora. Immediately after crossing the road, we leave Preddvor and over a small bridge step into the village Hrib, through which the road begins first gently, then moderately to ascend. When the settlement ends, a nice view soon opens up on the right towards Storžič, Cjanovci, Hudičev boršt, St. Jakob and also the hill Senčnica Josipine Turnograjske. A little further ahead, the road flattens and brings us to a crossroad, where we continue straight in the direction of Senčnica Josipine Turnograjske, Novi grad (Pusti grad), St. Jakob and Potoška gora (left lake Črnava, Hotel Bor, castle Hrib, right Senior Citizens' Home Preddvor) and continue the path on the ascending asphalt road. A little higher, at the chapel a path joins us from the left from the center of Preddvor, but we continue right, passing a few houses to arrive at the fence of the Senior Citizens' Home Preddvor. Here the road turns left and also leads to the nearby parking lot among other things, but we continue on the footpath that continues along the fence.
A well-marked path, which we follow in the direction of Senčnica Josipine Turnograjske, takes us into the forest, through which it begins to ascend more steeply. Through the forest we ascend quite steeply for a few minutes, then the path flattens and brings us to Senčnica Josipine Turnograjske, where there is also a logbook box with the logbook.
From the top there follows a short descent along a forest path, then we reach a forest road, which we follow to the left, along which we descend lightly for a short time. Soon we reach the other wider road (road that leads from the parking lot near the Senior Citizens' Home Preddvor and bypasses Senčnica Josipine Turnograjske), which we cross slightly to the left, where at the entrance into the forest we notice red mountaineering direction signs (to here also possible along the aforementioned road).
We continue in the direction of the ruins of Novi grad (Pusti grad) and footpaths towards St. Jakob and Potoška gora. The path ahead moderately ascends through a forested valley, then splits into two parts.
We choose the left path, named Juhantova pot, which leads towards St. Jakob (slightly right the usual marked path towards St. Jakob, Potoška gora, Javorov vrh...), which already after a minute or two splits again.
To the left continues the marked path towards Novi grad, but we continue straight on the marked but no longer marked path further on. The path ahead ascends through the forest for some time longer, crossing a few cart tracks, and higher also a macadam road. There follows a few minutes of quite steep ascent, then past a smaller wooden sign we reach a wider cart track, which we follow to the left. From the point where we reach the cart track, only about a minute of walking separates us from the Planinska koča pri Franciju.
