Prijevor - Maglić

Access to starting point:
From Sarajevo, we drive towards Foča and just before it, we turn towards Gacko and Tjentište (right road). At the beginning of Tjentište, we turn sharply left at the abandoned „Energopetrol“ gas station. Along a poor asphalt road we soon reach a barrier where we must pay the entrance fee for Sutjeska National Park. We continue along the gravel road and ignore smaller side paths left and right. After 7 km it becomes asphalt for a short time, this is Dragoš sedlo with monuments to fallen partisan heroes and a path to the viewpoint of Skakavac waterfall (5 min). After approximately 4 km we reach a U-shaped bend where the sign for Prijevor directs us straight onto a smaller road. After approximately 3 km we reach the parking lot and camping area.

Path description:
From the parking lot we continue along the road which starts to descend and soon narrows into a well-marked and trodden footpath. Soon it descends to a meadow near Suho Lake (1350 m) and then turns into the forest on the left side, bringing us to Trnovacko Lake (1534 m) in 1 hour and 30 minutes. Since the lake is located in Montenegro, at the hut where we can also refill water, it is often necessary to show personal documents and pay the entrance fee to NP Piva. We continue along the right side of the lake then steeply into the forest and later a clearing. After approximately another hour and a half we arrive at the ridge, where signs direct us to the left. We follow the gentle path along the ridge for about one to one and a half hours, before the summit there is a short ascent, then we are at the top of Maglić where there is a flag on an iron pole.
