Access to starting point:
Leave the Macelj-Zagreb motorway at the Krapina exit and continue towards Varaždin-Radoboj. When we reach the next intersection, left is towards Krapina, right towards Krapinske Toplice, but we go straight to Radoboj (direction not marked).
The road then leads us through Velika Vas and Jazvine, then it starts to climb and brings us to Radoboj. Leave the car in the center of the settlement, if occupied, a bit lower by the NK Radoboj pitch.
Path description:
From the center of Radoboj we head towards the hamlet Kamenečki and the mountain hut. Orientation is easy, as our goal is in front of us.
By the hut a path branches off to the summit of Sekolje, we continue on asphalt but only to the first house in the hamlet Kamenečki. Here the asphalt in a right bend starts steeply ascending, we go left onto the forest track.
For some time we are on the forest track which ascends gently to moderately, passing a water supply facility. After some time we leave the forest and reach a meadow with ambiguously marked junction.
The markers indicate straight ahead west towards the mountain hut on Strahinjščica, our path however goes in a sharp right turn upwards to the Rajher farm, where we cross the yard behind which we return to the forest.
In the forest we first walk north, soon the path turns east and starts ascending. A bit further we go left from the track, where the path becomes quite steep and, especially when wet, dangerous for slipping.
Higher up the path takes us to the rock Dedek and babica, after which the path is named.
From here a nice view opens up, and on the bench we can rest.
The path ahead ascends gently for some time, then reaches a track where it becomes steeper again. Higher we temporarily arrive from the forest to a clearing, where there is a junction.
The right path leads to the Strahinjščica mountain hut, we go left and below the ridge join the old path from Radoboj.
Above the junction we reach the ridge of Strahinjščica, where we go left west, where it first levels out, then gently descends.
When the descent ends the last steep ascent follows, when the steepness eases, we soon reach the forested summit.
The summit Sušec is in the forest and has no view. There is no summit book, it is in the hut, only a stamp on the summit. For the view go another twenty minutes west to the Dedek viewpoint.
Legend has it that Grandpa and Grandma and granddaughter once lived by the rock. The granddaughter went to the valley every day to the well for water and to the mill to grind flour. Once she fell and spilled the flour. As punishment Grandpa and Grandma sent her for water with a sieve. The granddaughter of course could not scoop water from the well and was afraid to return. Therefore Grandpa and Grandma pronounced a curse that she turn into a rock. But the curse hit them too and they also turned to stone.
