Ravenska Kočna - Ledinski vrh (Slovenian way)

Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway we take the exit Kranj - east and continue on the road towards Jezersko. At Zgornje Jezersko, just past the petrol station, we notice a road branching off to the right from the main road (direction Planšarsko jezero). The road then leads us past the mentioned lake and after it ascends steeply for a short time. Higher up the road levels out and at the beginning of a large meadow it loses its asphalt surface. We then follow the macadam road to the marked larger parking lot, where parking is chargeable (10 EUR per day, data from 2026).

Route description:
From the parking lot we continue along the macadam road following the signs »Češka koča, Ledine« and after about 15 minutes of walking we reach the junction at the lower stations of the cargo cableway for Češka koča and Kranjska koča.
We continue slightly left towards Kranjska koča on Ledine (right Češka koča on Spodnje Ravne), where after a few steps we reach the lower station of the cargo cableway leading to Kranjska koča (the building completely burned down in 2015, later a new one was built).
Here the path splits again, and we choose the direction that continues slightly right and along which there are signs for the path through Žrelo and Slovenska pot (left leads an easier hunting path to Ledine).
In the continuation we walk through the forest for a short time, then the path brings us to grassy terrain that is partially overgrown with dwarf pines. Here the path turns slightly left, where it first still leads through a narrow belt of dwarf pines, then passes onto scree, where first to the right branches off the via ferrata opened in October 2014 towards Češka koča, and we continue following the signs for Ledine.
In the continuation we ascend transversely to the left. When we approach the mighty ravine Žrelo, first to the right branches off another path to Češka koča, namely the one known as Umik Žrela (the junction is marked with the inscription »Češka koča« on the rock). A few dozen meters further, when we already enter the mighty ravine, the path splits once more.
Up the scree or ravine branches off the path through Žrelo, which has been closed for several years and will very probably remain permanently closed due to the great danger of falling rocks and consequently damaged protections. We turn slightly left in the direction of Slovenska pot, where we quickly enter the wall, in which we will continue the ascent along a very demanding mountain path.
The path ahead leads us over well-protected terrain, which due to its shady location is often slippery and wet, which is why even greater caution is required. Higher up the path is also quite exposed in several parts, and due to the steepness exposed to falling rocks, so a helmet is mandatory. When we ascend above the wall with beautiful views of the surroundings, the path passes among dwarf pines, where it continues to ascend steeply. Higher up the previously mentioned path through Žrelo joins from the right, and we keep to the left direction and after about 20 minutes of further walking reach Kranjska koča on Ledine.
On the other side of the hut the path splits, and we continue straight in the direction of Okrešelj, Ledinski vrh and Baba (left down the hunting path into the valley of Ravenske Kočne), where we first ascend gently, then moderately. There follows a short protected but undemanding ascent, then from our path slightly to the left branches off Rudijeva vertikala towards Velika Koroška Baba.
We continue slightly right, at the next junction we go slightly left (slightly right path leads in the direction of the foot of the scree Ledenik pod Skuto). There follows an ascent to the GRS hut or the markers' hut, then through dwarf pines we ascend to a short demanding section, where with the help of a steel cable we cross a short rock slab. On the other side of the protected section we ascend steeply for a few minutes, when the path and slope level out the path soon splits.
We continue along the slightly left path, which leads towards Jezersko sedlo (slightly right Križ) and ascend steeply for a few more minutes, higher up it levels out and with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains brings us to the junction at Jezersko sedlo.
In the straight down direction continues the path towards Savinjsko sedlo and Logarska dolina, and we continue left in the direction of Ledinski vrh and Velika Koroška Baba. The path ahead leads us with exceptional views of the northern walls of the mountains above Ledine and Spodnje Ravne. Along the ridge path we ascend to the junction at the saddle between Ledinski vrh on the left and Storžek (Belski turn) on the right.
We continue left towards Ledinski vrh (straight down leads the path to Velika Koroška Baba). The path leads us over crumbly terrain, then passes onto grassy slopes, along which we begin to ascend steeply. There follows only a shorter ascent through a narrow belt of dwarf pines and we reach the scenic and exposed Ledinski vrh.
We can descend along the easier hunting path, where some caution is also required on the steep sections so that we do not slip.
