Razglednik - Krekova koča na Ratitovcu

Access to starting point:
A) From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Lesce and follow the road towards Bled and forward towards Bohinjska Bistrica. From Bohinjska Bistrica we continue left in the direction of Tolmin and Soriška planina. Above the village Nemški Rovt we get to a marked crossroad, where we continue right in the direction of Soriška planina (slightly left Škofja Loka and Železniki). On the road towards Soriška planina we drive past a turn-off of the path (road) towards the mountain hut Orožnova koča (turn-off for Orožnova koča is marked, and it from the main road branches off to the right), from where we drive on the main road for approximately 1 km, where on the right side we notice a smaller parking lot, and on the left side we notice a road which branches off sharply to the left and continues towards the mountain pasture Pečana. At the crossroad, we can also notice the first blazes and mountain signpost for Ratitovec.
B) From Železniki or Podbrdo at first we drive on Soriška planina, and then we continue driving towards Bohinjska Bistrica. From the parking lot on Soriška planina we drive for approximately 1 km, and then we notice a turn-off of the forest road to the right, which leads towards the mountain pasture Pečana. We park by the crossroad on the left side of the road on a smaller parking lot.

Path description:
From the starting point at first we carefully cross the road, and then we go on a macadam road in the direction of Ratitovec. The road quickly goes into the forest, through which it starts moderately ascending. Higher, the road flattens and brings us on a smaller marked crossroad.
We continue slightly left (right road which leads towards the nearby Črni vrh 1486 meters) and we continue on the road which then few times slightly ascends and descends again. From the road which all the time continues through the forest, only rarely a view opens up a little on the western Karawanks and central Julian Alps. After approximately hour and a half of walking the road descends considerably and it brings us to a crossroad, where from the left joins the road from the mountain pasture Bitenjska planina.
We continue slightly right and start slightly ascending, at first still through the forest and then we cross shorter panoramic slope. Quickly we return into the forest and then we get to the next crossroad, where we continue right in the direction of Ratitovec (straight Rovtarica). The path ahead leads us on the road which continues through a small valley, and from the left only few 10 meters further joins the marked path from the mountain pasture Bitenjska planina. The road on which we walk soon ends and it brings us to the parking lot and turning point below the mountain pasture Pečana.
From the parking lot, we continue on a wide cart track which starts relatively steeply ascending through the forest. After approximately 10 minutes of walking cart track flattens, after that only a little further brings us to cottages on the mountain pasture Pečana.
Few strides above the mentioned cottages we come out of the forest on grassy slopes, and we continue on the right side of the mountain pasture for only few meters and then at the crossing we continue right in the direction of the mountain hut Krekova koča (straight Kosmati vrh and Vratca). The path ahead starts moderately ascending through thinner spruce forest. Higher, we finally step out of the forest on an ample pastures of Ratitovec, where we leave the cart track and we continue the ascent on a little poorly visible, but marked footpath which after few minutes of additional walking brings us on the upper slope of Ratitovec, where from the right side joins the path from Soriška planina. We continue left and an increasingly panoramic path which leads us past the winter bivouac we follow all the way to the mountain hut Krekova koča na Ratitovcu, which we reach after a little less than 5 minutes of additional walking.
