While driving through Austria, we first follow the signs for Jennersdorf, Güssing, then to the settlement St. Michael im Burgenland, where we turn right towards the settlement Großpetersdorf. After the mentioned settlement, we reach the main road Sombotel / Szombathely - Oberwart / Felsőőr, and we follow it right in the direction of Hungary. We leave the mentioned main road at the exit for Rechnitz, and we drive to the mentioned settlement, where we follow the signs for Badesee. We park about 100 meters before the lake on the arranged parking lot by the road.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we walk to the lake, then continue on the left, west side of the lake. When we get to the other side of the lake, a path branches off slightly to the left, which leads towards the chapel of St. Donat / Donatikapelle.
We continue on the mentioned path by which there are signs for Hirschenstein, and further we ascend diagonally on a cart track. A few minutes ahead we reach a wider cart track, where we go twice left, so that the plantation of young larches we bypass on the left side. On the cart track, we then ascend diagonally towards the left, and when we reach an asphalt road, we carefully cross it and along it continue to the turn-off of the side road, by which there are signs for the chapel of St. Donat. Here we go sharply left and continue on a forest path which leads us parallel with the nearby macadam road. Next follows a few minutes of ascent through the forest and we arrive at the chapel of St. Donat.
