Access to starting point:
We leave the A2 highway Graz - Vienna / Wien at the exit for Gleisdorf West, then we follow the signs for Hartberg and Weiz, later only Weiz. At the beginning of the town Weiz, we go from the roundabout in the direction of the exit for the settlement Birkfeld and then follow the road all the way to the mentioned settlement, from where we follow the signs for Ratten and Rettenegg. At the beginning of the settlement Rettenegg, we turn left into the center of the settlement, where we then park in one of the marked parking spaces in the center of the settlement.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the sidewalk by the road which leads through the main part of the settlement. Before the road sign marking the end of the settlement Rettenegg, we turn left following the signs for Alois-Günther-Haus am Stuhleckgipfel. The path ahead leads us on the Stickl Bergweg road, along the same route as the marked path runs the Planetary Path "Nebesa na Zemlji" / Der Planetenweg "Himmel auf Erden", so along the way we notice the planetary points of the mentioned path, equipped with information boards. Next follows an ascent above the settlement, where a beautiful view of Rettenegg opens up when looking back. Then follows an ascent through a strip of forest. When the forest ends, we reach the settlement Sticklberg, where from the crossroad we continue straight, passing by nearby buildings of a homestead.
Behind the homestead, the road turns into a macadam path. Further on, at several crossroads, we follow the blazes or signs for "Planetenweg". When we re-enter the forest, we turn left from the road onto a cart track and immediately right onto a footpath that ascends along the edge of the forest. Just a few minutes later, we cross a macadam road. The path then continues partly on cart tracks and, in shorter sections, on the macadam road. The path, which has a few more crossroads and along which there are individual information boards of the Planetary Path, higher up turns into a steeper mountain path. This gradually leads us out of the forest onto grassy slopes, across which we first ascend diagonally to the right, then continue along a grazing fence fairly straight uphill. The path flattens at the marked crossroad on the saddle Schwarzriegel, where we turn left (right Stuhleck) towards Mürzzuschlag and Roseggerhaus and gradually reach a strip of sparse spruce forest, where the terrain levels out and we continue with the path through a short swampy section, where the path runs over wooden boardwalks.
We quickly leave the mentioned section and reach a park of wind power plants, before which there is a warning sign that there is a life-threatening danger of falling pieces of ice from the plants.
Soon after the first power plant, we cross a macadam road; before the second power plant, we go left and return to the road which we crossed a little lower down. We follow the road to the right, and in a few minutes we reach the indistinct peak Grazer Stuhleck.
Next follows an easy descent on the macadam road, and we continue with nice views among the wind power plants. When the descent ends, we start ascending again and in a few minutes of moderate ascent we reach a grazing fence, which the road also crosses. Here, near the grazing fence, is the highest point of the peak Geiereck.
Next follows an easy descent to a marked crossroad, from which we go right in the direction of Moschkogel and Moschkogelhütte (left Pretul and Roseggerhütte). Next follows a few minutes of descent and with beautiful views we reach the Moschkogelhütte hut, which we notice on the left side of the road.
