Access to starting point:
Over the border crossing Rateče we drive to Trbiž / Tarvisio, where we go on a highway in the direction of Videm / Udine. We leave the highway at exit Tolmezzo and we follow the road to the mentioned settlement. From Tolmezzo we continue in the direction of the settlement Ampezzo and mountain pass Passo della Mauria. The road then starts descending and brings us into a valley Cadore, where we continue right (left Belluno and Cortina d'Ampezzo) in the direction of the settlement Auronzo. After few additional km of driving, we come to the next bigger crossroad, where we go right in the direction of the settlement Misurina (left mountain pass Tre Croci). From here we descend on the road to a bigger crossroad where we continue left towards Cortina d'Ampezzo (right Austria). From the mentioned crossroad, we continue for approximately 10 km towards Cortina d'Ampezzo, and then in a sharp left turn we go right on the road towards the mountain hut Rifugio Ra Stua. Narrow asphalt road we follow all the way to a larger parking lot at the mountain hut.
Path description:
From the mountain hut Rifugio Ra Stua we continue on a macadam road which is closed for traffic. Already immediately at the beginning footpath towards the notch Forcella Lerosa and valley Gotres branches off to the right. A little later also the path towards the valley Valbones and towards the bivouac Helbig Dall'Oglio branches off to the right.
We still continue on a gently sloping macadam road which for some time still runs by pastures, and then it brings us into the forest. Further for some time we walk through the forest by the stream Boite, and then we come again on grassy slopes where there is also a crossroad.
The road towards the mountain hut Rifugio Fodara Vedla branches off to the left, and we continue straight on a macadam road towards the mountain hut Rifugio Sennes. Already after few ten meters, we come to another crossing.
This time we go right on a footpath towards the lake Lago di Foses and mountain hut Rifugio Biella, and further on the road leads the path towards the mountain hut Rifugio Sennes. From the crossing, the path at first leads over grassy slopes on which from the right joins the footpath from the mountain hut Ra Stua. The path then brings us into dwarf pines through which we start ascending steeper. Through dwarf pines we start quite quickly gaining altitude and soon the views start opening up towards the mountain group Tofana and towards Monte Pelmo. Later, the path turns a little to the left and it brings us on a little less steep slopes. From dwarf pines path brings us on more grassy terrain where from the right side joins a little worse beaten footpath which runs below the slopes of the peak Monte Geralbes. The path with increasingly beautiful view here runs towards the northwest and leads us past a smaller lake Lago di Remeda Rossa. The path further slightly descends and a view also opens up towards the summit Croda del Becco (Seekofel). The path then leads us past the lake Lago Piccolo and it brings us to a bigger lake Lago di Fosses.
At the lake where there is a crossing, we continue right following the signs »Rifugio Biella«. The path at first leads us on the left side of the lake and then again starts slightly ascending. When the path turns to the left we come to a little poorly visible crossing.
At the crossing, we leave the marked path and go right on an unmarked footpath towards the notch Forcella Cocodain. The path here starts ascending even a little steeper and runs slightly to the right towards the east.
When we get closer to the notch Forcella Cocodain, we leave the path towards the notch and go right on pathless terrain below the slopes of the peak Remeda Rossa (Rote Wand). On the right side we will notice a little less steep slope on which we go. On this part, the footpath is also visible, which is marked with numerous cairns. The path here runs towards the south and later brings us on a ridge where a view opens up towards the summit Piccola Croda Rossa. We continue left and we are ascending on less steep slopes on the right side of the ridge. On this part footpath vanishes, but orientation isn't too demanding because we get help from numerous cairns.
A little before the peak Remeda Rossa we leave the ridge and we go left towards the summit Roter Turm. The peak is for some time already visible from the path and we recognize it by reddish color. From the ridge we at first cross rocky slope to a smaller saddle on the south side of the peak. Here the slope becomes for a short time a little steeper, so that some caution is needed. Only a short ascent follows on mostly grassy slope to the top.
On the way: Lago di Remeda Rossa (2120m), Lago Piccolo (2146m), Lago di Fosses (2142m)
