Access to starting point:
A) From the highway Ljubljana - Maribor, we take the exit Slovenske Konjice and continue driving towards the mentioned settlement. From Slovenske Konjice, we continue towards Zreče, and further we follow the road in the direction of Rogla. When we arrive at Rogla, we park on a large parking lot near the hotel Planja.
B) First, we drive to Lovrenc na Pohorju (to here from the road Maribor - Dravograd), then we continue driving towards Rogla and Koča na Pesku. Further, the macadam road first brings us to Mašinžaga and then to Koča na Pesku. From Koča na Pesku, we continue on the asphalt road, by which we then ascend to the large parking lot near the hotel Planja.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we walk to the mountain signposts, which are located by the pizzeria Planja, then we go on the path in the direction of Lovrenška jezera, saddle Komisija and Ostruščica. At first, we slightly descend by the four-seater chairlift Planja, when we reach a narrower asphalt path we follow it for a short time to the left, then signs for Lovrenška jezera point us to the right on a larger pasture. Next follows an ascent on a gentle grassy slope, higher the meadow is replaced by sparse forest and we arrive on the upper slopes of Ostruščica.
From Ostruščica we descend on a cart track to the saddle Komisija, where the path splits.
We continue slightly right in the direction of Lovrenška jezera and Ribniška koča (slightly left - Lovrenška jezera and Ribniška koča - western path) and we continue the path further on a wider cart track. A little further, a marked path from Koča na Pesku or Mašin žage joins us from the right, we continue straight in the direction of Lovrenška jezera. There follow some more traversals with shorter ascents and descents, then we begin to ascend on a partly paved path, where we ascend on wooden boardwalks. Higher, the path flattens and we arrive at a junction, where we go right towards Lovrenška jezera (left - Ribniška koča and Rogla on the western path).
Only a few dozen steps further we arrive at a lookout tower, from which a nice view opens towards the plateau where the lakes are located, from the tower we continue on wooden boardwalks which through dwarf pines lead us to the lakes.
The description and pictures refer to the state in October 2022.

I recommend viewing the Lovrenška lakes... At this time it's most beautiful there. Just be early enough - last time I spotted a wild rooster and some wild boars plus a stag with huge antlers surprised me. Really very nice. regards

If you've already decided on a hike from Rogla to Lovrenška jezera, it's worth extending it by another hour to reach Ribniška koča, and maybe half an hour more to the highest peak of Pohorje, Črni vrh. There might be more to find. Cheers

Since I'm a fan of circular paths, I plan to do a tour in the future specifically on the route Rogla - koča na Pesku - koča na Pesniku - Kope - Ribniška koča - Rogla at hiking pace... Roughly estimating, it should come to about 45 - 50 km... I've already walked the distance between koča na Pesku and koča na Pesniku both ways once, while I rode the distance between koča na Pesku and Kope round trip on a mountain bike. Interesting is the section of the Pohorje bike transversal from koča na Pesku via Pesnik to Kope, which measures 25 kilometers, and I predict the extension continuing from Kope via Ribniška koča to Rogla will be just the thing for excellent exploration - I'd say of the central part of Pohorje... Yesterday we did this trail. I was pleasantly surprised by the lakes, another wonder of nature, where ruins with ponds lie in the middle of the forest. Wonderful. We saw quite a few rare bird species (komatar, krekovt, krivokljun,..). On the way back we went to the Koča na Pesku hut and the viewpoint tower on Rogla. All in all 12km of trail.

If someone doesn't know yet, on 3.6.2017 Alpina will organize a hike to Lovrenška jezera. Check Alpina hikes 70 km around Slovenia. Believe me, it will be nice. If you couldn't register, you can also on the day before the hike. It's really nice there, so go and enjoy the beautiful view.

Beautiful and easy path. On the way back you can also see the new addition - Tree Crown Path. And desserts from blueberries and forest fruits are excellent in nearby inns. Some snapshots from the hike this summer: https://bit.ly/3ksRI1P

Hi, I'm a geography student at FF and as part of my master's thesis I'm conducting a short survey on recreation in Pohorje. I'd be very grateful for every response. Link to the survey: https://1ka.arnes.si/a/ac3062f7
