Access to starting point:
A) From the highway Ljubljana - Maribor, we take the exit Slovenske Konjice and continue driving towards the mentioned settlement. From Slovenske Konjice, we continue towards Zreče, while further following the road in the direction of Rogla. When we arrive at Rogla, we park on the large parking lot near the hotel Planja.
B) First, we drive to Lovrenc na Pohorju (to here from the road Maribor - Dravograd), then we continue driving towards Rogla and Koča na Pesku. The macadam road further first brings us to Mašinžaga and then to the mountain hut Koča na Pesku. From Koča na Pesku, we continue on the asphalt road, along which we then ascend to the large parking lot near hotel Planja.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we walk to the mountain signposts located by the pizzeria Planja, then we head onto the path in the direction of Lovrenška jezera, saddle Komisija and Ostruščica. Initially, we descend slightly beside the four-seater chairlift Planja; when we reach the narrower asphalt path, we follow it to the left for a short time, then the signs for Lovrenška jezera direct us right onto a larger pasture. There follows an ascent along a gentle grassy slope; higher up, the meadow gives way to sparse forest and we arrive at the upper slopes of Ostruščica.
From Ostruščica, we descend along a cart track to saddle Komisija, where the path splits.
We continue slightly right in the direction of Lovrenška jezera and Ribniška koča (slightly left: Lovrenška jezera and Ribniška koča - western path) and continue along a wider cart track. A little further, a marked path from Koča na Pesku or Mašin žaga joins from the right, but we go straight towards Lovrenška jezera. There follows some more traversing with shorter ascents and descents, then we begin to ascend a partly paved path, climbing via wooden duckboards. Higher up, the path levels out and we reach a junction, where we go right towards Lovrenška jezera (left: Ribniška koča and Rogla via the western path).
Just a few dozen steps further, we arrive at a viewpoint tower from which a fine view opens onto the plateau where the lakelets are located; from the tower, we continue along wooden duckboards that lead us through dwarf pine thickets to the lakes.
From the lakes, we return to the last junction and continue towards Ribniška koča and Rogla. There follows a few minutes' descent along wooden duckboards, then from the marked junction we go right towards Lovrenc na Pohorju and Ribniška koča (left: Rogla via the western path). There follows traversing of the slopes below the Lovrenška jezera plateau, where the path crosses a few streams; then the slope becomes panoramic and we reach a junction at Planinka.
Here we continue straight (right: Lovrenc na Pohorju); the path takes us past fine views of Pohorje and the Kamniško-Savinjske Alpe and Karavanke in the distance, while to the right a fine view also opens towards Golica / Koralpe. There follows a few more minutes' descent across the expansive meadow of Planinka, then the path enters the forest and descends somewhat more steeply. Lower down, we pass a neatly arranged spring, beyond which we reach the Šiklarica saddle at 1300 m elevation.
From the saddle, we gradually begin to ascend, following the blazes at junctions. Slightly higher, a short path (2 minutes) branches right to the memorial for the deceased aviators. We continue ascending through the forest; higher up, the forest begins to thin and we arrive at the next junction, a few minutes below Jezerski vrh.
Here we go straight (right: Ribniško jezero 3 minutes) and ascend to the nearby Jezerski vrh, from which a fine view opens.
From Jezerski vrh, we continue towards Ribniška koča and begin descending along a well-trodden path from which fine views open up. Lower down, we step onto a macadam road at the saddle between Mali Črni vrh and Jezerski vrh, then continue along this road, which heads northwest and gently ascends. We follow this road to the Ribniška koča, a few minutes away.
Starting point - Lovrenška jezera 1:25, Lovrenška jezera - Jezerski vrh 1:50, Jezerski vrh - Ribniška koča 15 minutes.
