Rosenbach - Frauenkogel/Dovška Baba (via Koprivnjak)

Access to starting point:
Through the Karawanks Tunnel, we drive to Austria, and then we drive on the highway towards Beljak, which we leave on the first exit. From the point where we left the highway, we follow the signs for the settlement Šentjakob v Rožu / Sankt Jakob im Rosental. When we arrive in the mentioned settlement, we leave the main road and continue driving right in the direction of the settlement Podrožca / Rosenbach. After a few kilometers of additional driving, we arrive near the railway station in Podrožca, where we continue left downhill, then at the next crossroad right in the direction of the valley Medji Dol / Bärental. Further, we drive on a somewhat narrower asphalt road, which we follow to the first crossroad, near which we notice hiking signposts. We park at an appropriate place by the road.
From the toll station at Hrušica to the starting point is approximately 23 km.

Path description:
From the starting point, we head onto the left road following the signs for Rožca / Rosenbachsattel (straight Kepa / Mittagskogel). The road first crosses a bridge over the stream Gračenica / Schönbrunnen, then starts first gently, later moderately ascending through the forest. Further, we ascend for quite some time on the forest road, then arrive at a marked junction at 900 meters altitude.
Here a road towards Golica / Kahlkogel branches off to the left, we continue slightly right in the direction of Rožca. From the junction, the road temporarily descends to the nearby stream, which it then also crosses. On the other side of the stream, we start ascending again, the marked path splits into two parts. We can continue further on the road, or left on the marked footpath, which starts ascending steeper and continues through the forest. Higher, the path returns to the road and leaves it again in the sharp right bend. We continue through the forest, on occasionally steeper and in the upper part also more overgrown slope. Higher, we join the cart track and follow it to the left. From the cart track soon a path towards Rožca branches off to the left, we continue straight and follow the cart track almost to its end. At the end of the cart track stands a smaller wooden hut, we turn right onto the steeper footpath a few meters before it. The path soon gets very close to the nearby forest road, we continue on the marked path, which turns somewhat to the right. Higher, the path flattens and crosses a pasture fence, behind which we quickly step onto the already several times mentioned road. We reach the road at the memorial plaque, we only cross it and continue the ascent on a poorly visible path, which ascends the pasture to the nearby hut.
Above the hut the marked path turns right and ascends transversely through a strip of forest. When we step out of the forest, the path starts to disappear. We continue the ascent on the grassy slope, across which we start ascending steeper with rarer markings. The mostly grassy slope higher flattens, the path becomes somewhat easier to follow. The path further leads us past a watering place for animals, after which we gradually move onto the ridge, along which we then ascend to the panoramic peak in a few minutes.
From Koprivnjak we continue towards the southwest, first on the path which continues along the ridge, then from the ridge we gradually withdraw somewhat to the left, where we cross first gentle, then somewhat steeper slopes. In the last part of the crossing the path from pastures passes onto slightly vegetated slopes, along which we continue to the place where we reach the state border.
When we reach the border ridge we continue right (left Hruški vrh, Klek, Rožca...), the path which we continue on quickly splits. We continue on the upper right path, which continues along the ridge (slightly left on the marked path to mountain pasture Dovška Rožca).
Further, we mainly ascend moderately on a relatively wide and on some parts with brushwood overgrown ridge. Higher, when we approach Baba (1849 m) - Baba is the eastern forepeak of Dovška Baba -, the path withdraws from the ridge somewhat to the left, where it crosses a shorter steeper and especially in wet slippery slope. When the crossing ends, the path returns to the ridge, we ascend on it to the summit of Dovška Baba in a few minutes of further walking.
