Rudno polje - Brda (east path)

Access to starting point:
a) From Bled or Jesenice we drive to Zatrnik, then continue driving towards Pokljuka. When we arrive at Pokljuka, we stay on the main road the whole time and drive along it to the large arranged parking lot at Rudno polje.
b) From Železniki or Podbrdo we drive to Bohinjska Bistrica, then continue driving in the direction of Bled. Shortly after the Petrol gas station, which is located just a little after Bohinjska Bistrica, we continue driving left in the direction of Pokljuka and Jereka. In the continuation, the road first climbs steeply, then after Koriti it gradually levels out and brings us to the intersection by the bus stop, where we continue right in the direction of Pokljuka, Koprivnik and Jereka (straight Srednja vas). Immediately after the intersection we arrive in Jereka, and from the intersection in front of the church we continue straight towards Pokljuka (left Podjelje). After Jereka the road starts climbing more steeply again, higher up it levels out and continues along Mrzli potok, where the road to Koprivnik v Bohinju branches off to the left, and we continue straight towards Pokljuka and Gorjuše. After Gorjuše the road enters the forest, and we drive along it to the intersection where we join the road from Bled. Here we continue left, then drive along the main road to the large parking lot at Rudno polje.

Path description:
From the parking lot, carefully cross the main road and continue on the gravel road in the direction of Triglav, Viševnik and Blejska koča na Lipanci. After about ten minutes of gentle walking, we arrive at the Viševnik ski area. Here we leave the road and turn right (direction Viševnik and Srenjski preval), while the road straight ahead leads to Vodnikov dom and Studorski preval.
The path leads us along the trail to the left of the ski slope, along the edge of the forest. After a short ascent, we step back onto the gravel road. At the place where the marked path towards Viševnik turns straight upwards, we continue right and cross the ski slope. The road soon takes us into the forest to an intersection, where we choose the lower right path, and at the next intersection we turn right again (in both cases follow the signs for Lipanca).
The path leads us past the Rudno polje sand quarry, then after a short descent we turn left into the forest (direction Blejska koča). Through the forest we follow the markings that lead us through several forks and across a gravel road. After crossing, the path climbs more steeply and ascends transversely to the right. When the forest begins to thin, we notice an animal watering place on the left. From there, only a few minutes of ascent separate us from the fork, where we turn right downhill (left Viševnik and Mrežce) and in a minute or two reach Blejska koča na Lipanci.
From the hut, we continue right with a short descent in the direction of Debela peč. The path gently ascends across the scenic Planina Lipanca, then branches at the edge of the forest. We take the left marked path (right to the hunting lodge on Planina Brda). After a short ascent we arrive at a new fork, where we choose the more visible right path (direction Debela peč), which after a gentle ascent and a shorter steep section brings us to the next path intersection. We continue again in the direction of Debela peč (left Brda and Krma).
In the continuation, the path ascends lightly through sparse larch forest. Higher up, the forest thins, and the path becomes steeper. When the terrain levels, a wonderful view opens up to the mountains above the Krma valley. At the marked, but less noticeable fork, we turn left towards Brda (right Debela peč). The path crosses the slopes of the Brda peak and brings us to a fork with a cairn, where we head right upwards. After the last five minutes of ascent on increasingly scenic terrain, we reach the 2008 meter high summit of Brda.
