Access to starting point:
a) From Bled or Jesenice we drive to Zatrnik, then continue driving towards Pokljuka. Once we arrive at Pokljuka, we stay on the main road all the time and drive along it to the large arranged parking lot at Rudno polje.
b) From Železniki or Podbrdo we drive to Bohinjska Bistrica, then continue driving in the direction of Bled. Shortly after the Petrol gas station, which is located a little after Bohinjska Bistrica, we continue left in the direction of Pokljuka and Jereka. In the continuation the road first climbs steeply, then after Koriti it gradually levels out and brings us to the intersection by the bus stop, where we continue right in the direction of Pokljuka, Koprivnik and Jereka (straight Srednja vas). Immediately after the intersection we arrive in Jereka, and from the intersection in front of the church we continue straight towards Pokljuka (left Podjelje). After Jereka the road starts climbing more steeply again, higher up it levels out and continues along Mrzli potok, where the road to Koprivnik in Bohinj branches off to the left, and we continue straight towards Pokljuka and Gorjuše. After Gorjuše the road enters the forest, and we drive along it to the intersection where we join the road from Bled. Here we continue left, then along the main road we drive further to the large parking lot at Rudno polje.
Path description:
From the parking lot, first carefully cross the road, then continue along the macadam road in the direction of Triglav, Viševnik and the Blejska koča na Lipanci. Along the fairly gentle road we walk for about ten minutes, then we arrive at the Viševnik ski slope, where we leave the road and continue right in the direction of Viševnik and Srenjski preval (continue along the road towards Triglav, Vodnikov dom and Studorski preval). The path ahead leads us to the left of the ski slope, along a trail that runs through the edge of the forest. After a short ascent we return to the macadam road, which we reach at the place where the marked path towards Viševnik continues straight up, and we follow the road to the right, thus crossing the ski slope. The road quickly takes us into the forest and to an intersection, where we continue along the lower right road; in the next intersection again right, both times towards Lipanca. After the second intersection we reach the sand quarry Rudno polje, and a little further on, after a short descent, the signs for Planina Lipanca and Blejska koča direct us left into the forest. Through the forest we follow the markings at several crossroads, then a little higher we cross the macadam road. After crossing the road the path becomes somewhat steeper and mainly ascends transversely to the right. Higher up the forest begins to thin, and on the left we notice a watering place for animals (often without water).
From here follows a few more minutes of ascent, then we arrive at a fork where we continue right downhill (left Viševnik and Mrežce) and in a minute or two of further walking we descend to the Blejska koča na Lipanci.
From the Blejska koča we continue right, descend a few more steps, then continue in the direction of Debela peč. This is followed by a slight ascent across the scenic part of Planina Lipanca, then at the edge of the forest the path forks. We continue left along the marked path (right hunting lodge on Planina Brda), which crosses the slopes to the left, then after a short ascent it forks again.
We continue along the more visible right path (slightly left Lipanski vrh and Krma), which ascends gently for a few more minutes, then turns right and ascends transversely across a short steep section. When the path brings us above the steep part we are already at the next fork, and this time too we continue in the direction of Debela peč (left Brda and Krma).
The path ahead ascends lightly for some time and runs through sparse, mostly larch forest. Higher up there are fewer trees, the path becomes somewhat steeper again, and when it levels out, a beautiful view opens up towards the mountains on the other side of the Krma valley.
Here there is also a marked, but slightly less noticeable fork, where we go right in the direction of Debela peč (left eastern path to Brda).
A few dozen steps further on, a short path to Okroglež branches off to the right, and we continue straight and for some time continue without major changes in altitude. Next follows a short gentle descent, then the path brings us to the slopes of Debela peč, where it begins to ascend more steeply.
For a few minutes we ascend steeply, then we already reach the scenic summit of Debela peč.
