Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway, take the Lesce exit and continue along the road towards Bled. In Bled, at the traffic lights, signs for Pokljuka direct us to the right. Continue driving through Gorje and past the abandoned Zatrnik ski slope to Rudno polje on Pokljuka (large parking lot, barracks and shooting range).
Path description:
At the end of the parking lot, a gravel road branches off to the right, alongside which there are signposts for Triglav. Head onto this road, which gently ascends and after ten minutes of walking brings us to the Viševnik ski slope. Continue along the road, from which a marked path towards Triglav soon branches off to the left.
Continue in the direction of Triglav and after a few minutes of moderate ascent arrive at a forest road, which we follow for just a few meters (until here it used to be possible by car as well). The marked path then heads right and ascends more steeply for a short while; after ten minutes the gradient eases, and the path gradually transitions onto steep slopes. Across these steep slopes, the path mostly gently descends and turns increasingly to the right. A little further on, we will notice Planina Konjščica below us to the left. Our path then stops descending and passes from the forest into the scrub. The path, which ascends again, leads us under steep cliffs and soon brings us to a junction where we join the path from Planina Konjščica.
From here a short ascent follows, and the path takes us into a beautiful little valley called Jezerce, where it splits. Signposts here direct us left (right Srenjski preval, Viševnik Blejska koča na Lipanci...), and continuing, the initially easy path leads us to the spring below Studorski preval. Beyond the spring, the path gradually steepens; higher up from the left bank of the gully it crosses to the right side, where we reach the grassy slope—the path we are ascending remains rocky. An ascent in a few hairpins follows, and we climb to Studorski preval, from which a fine view opens up onto the mountains above Bohinj.
Here a demanding path from Srenjski preval joins from the right; from our path unmarked trails also branch off to Ablanco and Veliki Draški vrh.
From the saddle we first descend steeply for a short time, then the path turns rightwards, and we cross the slopes to the left for quite some time with a few shorter easy ascents and descents. From the slopes of Veliki Draški vrh we gradually reach the slopes of the massive Tosc; with fine views we continue past the junction for Tosc and the fork where the path from Uskovnica joins from the left.
At all junctions, including the one where the partly abandoned path via Planina Zgornji Tosc joins us, continue straight; the path gradually brings us onto steeper and even sheer southwest slopes of Tosc, where a landslide occurred a few years ago, so extra caution is needed due to falling rocks. A fairly wide path leads across the sheer section, so there are no particular difficulties here; once the slope becomes less steep, the path from Stara Fužina or Voje valley joins from the left.
Continue straight on the wider marked path towards Triglav, which heads north along the western slopes of Tosc; the still easy path leads us across some scree fields to Vodnikov dom on Velem polju, where the next junction is.
Here too continue straight towards Triglav; the path begins to ascend laterally across the slopes of Vernar and higher up becomes technically demanding. Some traversing follows, aided by a chain; higher we reach a steep step where, with the aid of numerous pegs and chain, we climb rocky steps.
Ahead the path levels out, the slope becomes less steep and near Konjsko sedlo also somewhat grassier.
We easily descend to Konjsko sedlo; from the marked junction at the saddle head left towards Dom Planika pod Triglavom (straight Triglavski dom na Kredarici and Dom Valentina Staniča pod Triglavom, right Krma) and begin a fairly steep ascent westwards. For a while we approach Mokra skala (2266 m), then the path turns right onto an indistinct ridge where it temporarily levels out. Higher the marked path bypasses a small cirque on the right, then turns leftwards. Another approx. ten minutes' ascent follows, and with fine views of the Triglav massif and surrounding peaks we arrive at Dom Planika pod Triglavom.
