Rudno polje - Koča na Doliču

Access to starting point:
a) From the Ljubljana–Jesenice motorway, take the Lesce exit and continue following the road towards Bled. From Bled, follow the signs for Pokljuka, but stay on the road to the large parking lot at Rudno polje, where you park.
b) Drive to Bohinjska Bistrica, then continue the drive towards Bled. Soon, signs for Jereka, Koprivnik and Pokljuka direct you left onto the ascending asphalt road; at subsequent intersections, follow the signs for Pokljuka. Once on Pokljuka joining the road from Bled, go left and drive a little further to the large parking lot at Rudno polje.

Path description:
At the end of the parking lot, a gravel road branches off to the right, alongside which there are signposts for Triglav. Head onto this road, which gently ascends and after ten minutes of walking brings you to the Viševnik ski slope. Continue along the road, from which a marked path towards Triglav soon branches off to the left.
Continue in the direction of Triglav and after a few minutes of moderate ascent arrive at a forest road, which you follow for just a few meters (it used to be possible to drive there by car). The marked path then turns right and ascends more steeply for a short time; after ten minutes the steepness eases and the path gradually transitions onto steep slopes. Across the steep slopes, the path mostly gently descends and increasingly turns to the right. A bit further on, you will notice the Konjščica pasture to the left below you. Our path then stops descending and passes from the forest into the brush. The path, which ascends again, leads under steep cliffs and soon brings you to a junction where it joins the path from the Konjščica pasture.
From here follows a short ascent and the path leads into a beautiful little valley called Jezerce, where it forks. There are also signposts directing left (right Srenjski preval, Viševnik Blejska koča na Lipanci...), and the initially easy path takes you to the spring below Studorski preval. After the spring, the path gradually becomes steeper; higher up from the left side of the torrent it crosses to the right side, where it reaches grassy slopes; the path you ascend is still rocky. Follow the ascent in a few switchbacks and climb to Studorski preval, from which a beautiful view opens onto the mountains above Bohinj.
Here, a demanding path from Srenjski preval joins from the right, and from our path unmarked trails also branch off to Ablanca and Veliki Draški vrh.
From the saddle, first descend steeply for a short time, then the path turns to the right direction, and we then cross the slopes to the left for a long time with some shorter easy ascents and descents. From the slopes of Veliki Draški vrh, we gradually reach the slopes of the massive Tosc, and amid beautiful views we continue past the branch to Tosc and the junction where the path from Uskovnica joins from the left.
At all junctions, including the one where a partly abandoned path leading over Planina Zgornji Tosc joins, continue straight; the path gradually brings you to steeper and even precipitous southwest slopes of Tosc mountain, where there was a landslide some years ago, so extra caution is needed due to falling rocks. Across the precipitous section runs a fairly wide path, so there are no particular difficulties here; when the slope becomes less steep, the path from Stara Fužina or Voje valley joins from the left.
Here continue slightly left towards Velo polje (sharply left Voje, straight Vodnikov dom and Velska dolina via the path past Vodnikov dom). The path ahead begins to traverse descending to the right and quickly brings you to an unmarked junction. Continue on the right marked path (left hunting hut), which soon levels out and then continues traversing the slopes below Vodnikov dom. After a few minutes, the path turns slightly left and begins descending towards Mali and Velo polje. After a short descent, the path from Voje valley joins from the left, we continue right and after a few dozen steps arrive at the shepherds' huts on Planina Velo polje.
From the pasture, continue slightly right, i.e., straight, along the path that traverses the extensive pasture. On the other side of the pasture, reach stone barriers that prevent torrents from burying this wonderful pasture. Just a few meters before the mentioned stone barrier, the path turns slightly left and ascends into sparse, mostly larch forest. The path then turns a bit more to the left and brings you along easy and slightly vegetated grassy slopes to the aforementioned torrent, where the path past Vodnikov dom joins from the right. The path ahead ascends easily along the torrent for some time, then steeply ascends below the walls of Šmarjetna glava. The steepness then quickly eases, and the increasingly rocky path under the walls and screes of surrounding peaks brings you to the Dolič saddle, where there is a marked junction.
Continue straight (left Hribarice, right Dom Planika pod Triglavom) along the path that begins to descend gradually and after less than ten minutes brings you to Koča na Doliču.
