Rudno polje - Koča na Doliču

Access to starting point:
A) From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Lesce and we follow the road ahead towards Bled. From Bled we follow the signs for Pokljuka, and we follow the road to a large parking lot on Rudno polje, where we park.
B) We drive to Bohinjska Bistrica, and then we continue driving towards Bled. Soon signs for Jereka, Koprivnik, and Pokljuka direct us left onto an ascending asphalt road, and at the following crossroads, we follow the signs for Pokljuka. When we are already on Pokljuka and join the road from Bled, we turn left and drive a little further to a large parking lot on Rudno polje.

Path description:
From a large parking lot opposite the barracks on Rudno polje at first we cross the road, and then we look for the beginning of the forest road (by the beginning of the forest road are also signs for Triglav), which leads towards the ski slope Viševnik. After approximately 10 minutes of walking on the mentioned road we get to the foot ski slope, where the marked path splits into two parts. The right path leads towards Viševnik and mountain hut Blejska koča na Lipanci, and for a short time, we still continue on the road in the direction of Triglav, mountain hut Vodnikov dom na Velem polju and Studorski preval. When the road returns into the forest, we will on the left notice a marked footpath which starts gently and higher moderately ascending through the forest. After a few minutes, we step back onto the road, which we reach at a medium-sized former parking lot with enough space for about 20 cars.
When we reach the parking lot, we walk a few dozen meters along the road, then signs lead us slightly to the right onto a marked and well-trodden path that begins ascending through the forest. After few minutes, the path flattens and gradually passes on a relatively steep southern slopes of Plesišče (1790 meters). Next follows few minutes of crossing, and then we step on some kind of broad ridge of the before mentioned summit. Here the marked path turns right (straight downwards leads unmarked, but well-beaten path towards Planina Konjščica) and descends a little. A little further, we will notice left below us the mountain pasture Konjščica. Our path then ceases descending and transitions from the forest into dwarf pines. The path, which ascends again, leads us below steep cliffs and soon brings us to a crossroads where we join the path from the mountain pasture Planina Konjščica. Next follows a short ascent, and the path leads us into a beautiful small valley named Jezerce, where the path flattens and splits.
Here the path turns left and, after a few steps, brings us into the central area of Triglav National Park (to the right, Blejska koča and Viševnik). Next, we ascend by a well towards Studorski preval. A little higher, we cross a torrent, and the path veers slightly to the right onto grassy slopes surrounded by dwarf pines. The path then ascends diagonally to Studorski preval, from which a beautiful view opens up on the Bohinj side, where we can clearly see the chain of Bohinj-Tolmin mountains. The path ahead first descends steeply for a short time, then crosses the slopes of Veliki Draški vrh and later Tosc, leading us with some gentle ascents and descents. Eventually, the path brings us to a grassy south slope of Tosc. Here, the path to Tosc branches off to the right, and just a few meters further, the path from Uskovnica joins from the left. We continue straight, and the path ahead continues crossing slopes of Tosc. The path then, in a gentle descent, crosses a short strip of sparse forest and brings us to steep slopes. A little further, the path, on a man-made wide ledge, crosses the precipitous slopes of Tosc in a gentle descent (this section is also exposed to falling rocks). Since the path is quite wide, it does not cause problems for most. The path then again slightly ascends and it brings us to a crossing, where we continue slightly left in the direction of Velo polje (sharply left Voje, straight Vodnikov dom na Velem polju). The path then begins descending diagonally to the right and brings us to an unmarked crossroads. We continue on the right marked path (left hunting cottage), which soon flattens, and then it continues by crossing the slopes below the mountain hut Vodnikov dom. After few minutes, the path turns slightly to the left and starts descending towards Malo and Velo polje. After a short descent from the left joins the path from the valley Voje, and we continue right and after few 10 strides, we get to shepherd huts on the mountain pasture Velo polje.
From the mountain pasture, we continue slightly to the right, or straight, along the path that crosses the wide mountain pasture. On the other side of the mountain pasture we come to rocky barriers, which preventing torrents to fill up this beautiful mountain pasture. Only few meters before the mentioned rocky barrier path turns slightly left and it ascends in thin mostly larch forest. After that, the path turns a little more to the left and on gentle and slightly vegetated grassy slopes brings us to the before mentioned torrent. The path ahead is for some time ascending gently by a torrent, and then it steeply ascends below the mountain walls of Šmarjetna glava. The steepness then quickly decreases and more and more rocky path below the mountain walls and scree of surrounding peaks brings us to a saddle Dolič. We continue straight (to the left, Hribarice; to the right, Dom Planika) along the path, which starts gradually descending and, in just under 10 minutes, brings us to Koča na Doliču.
