Access to starting point:
A) Through the Karawanks Tunnel, we drive to Austria, and then we continue driving on the Tauern motorway, which we leave already on the Villach bypass and continue driving towards the town of Feldkirchen. Further, we drive along Ossiacher See (Osojsko jezero) to the already mentioned town. In Feldkirchen we continue left in the direction of the mountain pass Turacher Höhe and we drive ahead past the towns of Himmelberg, Gnesau, Mitterdorf to the town of Wiedweg, where from the left the road from Bad Kleinkircheim also joins. From the mentioned crossroad, we continue towards the mountain pass Turacher Höhe, and we follow the mentioned road only a few kilometres, then signs for the alpine pass Schiestelscharte or Passhöhe direct us to the left onto the toll high-mountain road, which we then follow to the parking lot on the already mentioned pass.
B) From Styria or Carinthia, we first drive to Dravograd and then over the border crossing Vič into Austria, where we then follow the signs for Klagenfurt (Celovec). Further, we drive on the so-called Southern motorway, which we leave at Klagenfurt (direction Feldkirchen). Further, we drive on a regional road, by which we arrive in the already mentioned town. In Feldkirchen we continue right in the direction of the mountain pass Turacher Höhe and we drive ahead past the towns of Himmelberg, Gnesau, Mitterdorf to the town of Wiedweg, where from the left the road from Bad Kleinkircheim also joins.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we head onto the footpath in the direction of the peaks Klomnock and Mallnock and lake Falkertsee. The path already at the very beginning crosses a grazing fence, behind which it starts to ascend diagonally up the left side of the mountain. The relatively steep path then leads us across relatively steep slopes, across which fixed protections assist us, but which are not necessarily needed. After the first steep section, the path transitions to moderately steep grassy slopes, across which we then ascend in a moderate diagonal climb. A little further ahead, the path becomes steeper again and with the aid of a steel cable brings us to a junction just below the summit.
Here we continue left (right Klomnock 1 minute) in the direction of the summit Falkert and lake Falkertsee. The path ahead descends along a panoramic grassy ridge, then levels out and brings us to the spot where from the right the path from Mallnock joins (the path that bypasses Klomnock on the south side). Only a little further, we cross a grazing fence and we are already at the next hiking signposts.
We continue in the already familiar direction towards the summit Falkert, on a path that transitions to the slopes of the peak Steinnock, from where we have a nice view from the path towards the nearby Falkert, and in the distance the Julian and Carnic Alps are also nicely visible.
Here on the slopes of the peak Steinnock, at a suitable spot we leave the marked path and continue the ascent to the left across the grassy slope. We continue on easier pathless terrain, or if we left the marked path at the most suitable spot, on a faint trail, from which a short ascent follows to the panoramic summit.
