Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice, we take the exit Ljubelj (Tržič), then continue driving in the direction of Celovec / Klagenfurt. After the Ljubelj tunnel, the road starts descending, and we follow it to the junction, where slightly to the right and downwards the road towards the settlement Borovlje / Ferlach branches off.
The road, which is still descending, quickly brings us to the mentioned settlement, where we soon cross the railway track. Just a little after the track, we join another road, which we follow to the right, driving along it in the direction of the settlement Sele pri Cerkvi / Zell - Pfarre.
When we drive past a larger Spar store, we are already near the destination. When a small village store at the top of the little hill greets us on the RIGHT side in the village, we SLOW DOWN, because at the end of this small hill we will turn sharply RIGHT. We follow the signs for the sports park and farm OLIP - KALIŠNIK. After the sports park, the path splits to the right, but we boldly go left on the narrower asphalt road, which brings us directly in front of the homestead.
Path description:
From the farm Kališnik we continue on the forest path behind the wooden business building, where the farm machinery is parked. The forest path brings us about three hundred meters to a junction, where we turn right, downhill. Already after a few minutes of walking we come to a junction, where a marked path joins us from the right, coming from the saddle Šajda, and we continue left, where the path leads us through the idyllic valley of the river Borovnica, where real mountain farms such as Košil, Pipan and Košutnik are preserved. The path soon brings us into the forest; we follow the blazes and signs, which after good two hours of moderate walking bring us to Kobovnikova planina. Here we reach a grazing fence where we enjoy beautiful views. At the grazing fence we turn left, where the path narrows into a footpath marked with red dots. Further on, the path runs along a very steep slope, where there is a risk of slipping, but already after less than half an hour of walking we reach Grosova planina where a spring pleasantly trickles. On this pasture there is also a shepherd hut (closed); nearby there is also a cross with a bench, where we can rest and quench our thirst at the spring. The path leads us downhill across the pasture again and soon we come to a fork, where the marked path leads from the Koča pod Košuto to Košutnikov turn, Cjajnik, Ridovec, Hajnževo sedlo and Ljubelj. Only about ten more minutes of walking downhill ahead of us and the parking lot and Koča pod Košuto appear, where they have very good service and also speak Slovenian. We return by the same path. Another option is along the road into the valley, where in less than an hour we reach the village Sele pri Cerkvi / Zell Pfare, from where it is still about an hour's walk to the cars. I recommend this hike, it is very interesting.
