Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana-Jesenice motorway, we take the Lesce exit and follow the road towards Bled and then towards Bohinjska Bistrica. We continue driving towards Lake Bohinj (Ribčev laz), where we come to a junction, and continue straight along the left (southern) side of the lake in the direction of Ukanc and Savica Waterfall. We follow this road to the lower station of the cable car to Vogel, then buy a ticket and take the cable car to the upper station, which is the starting point for our tour.
Path description:
From the upper station of the cable car on Vogel we continue right on the road, which on the west side bypasses the mountain hut Merjasec. We continue the path in a gentle descent in the direction of Komna and Vogel, as a wide macadam road brings us to a marked junction. Here we continue left in the direction of the four-seater chairlift Orlove glave (right downwards Komna, Vogel, Žagarjev graben and Ukanc), which the road bypasses on the right side. From the bottom station of the four-seater chairlift, the path, which further runs along the transport-rescue road on the Vogel ski slope, starts to ascend more steeply. We follow the road, along which we notice some rare blazes and with increasingly beautiful views of the Julian Alps, to the upper station of the aforementioned four-seater chairlift. Here the path flattens and brings us to the spot where the path to the forepeak of Orlove glave (peak with a cross) branches off to the right, and we continue straight on the transport-rescue road, which bypasses the main peak of Orlove glave on the left side.
Further on, the road descends slightly and brings us to a poorly marked junction, where we continue along the right road in the direction of Šija and Rodica. We ascend briefly along the road, then it ends and brings us to a marked mountain path, along which we continue the ascent. After a few minutes of moderate ascent, we arrive at a marked junction, where the path to Komna branches off to the right, and we continue slightly left along the path, which gradually leads onto the ski slope. Here the path starts to ascend more steeply and, with increasingly beautiful views, quickly brings us to the upper station of the one-seater chairlift Šija.
From the upper station we continue slightly right and in a few steps ascend to the indistinct summit of Visoki Orlov rob.
From there the path temporarily descends slightly, then starts to ascend moderately and brings us to a marked junction in a few minutes. From the junction we continue straight in the direction of Šija (left Rodica, right Vogel) and continue the ascent along the steep path, along which in 5 minutes of further walking we arrive at the panoramic and precipitous summit.
From Šija we continue along a beaten but unmarked path, which from the summit starts descending towards the west. The path first descends across a steep slope, then continues along the ridge, which is slightly exposed in places. After a few minutes of traversing, the path ascends slightly and quickly brings us to Vrh Dlani.
