Access to starting point:
The Rijeka - Zagreb highway we leave at the Vrata exit, then continue left towards Delnice, but only to the village of Slavica, where we turn right into the village. We drive through the village, then the road makes a perpendicular turn and begins to ascend. We soon pass by a chapel to a crossroad above the village, where we park in a suitable spot by the road.
Path description:
From the starting point, we go right on the macadam road. The road slightly ascends and descends and makes short turns. In between, we walk below short vertical walls. After approximately half an hour of walking, we reach a marked crossing, where a path branches off to the left towards Brestova Draga, from where a considerably longer ascent to Velika Slavica is also possible. For a short time, we continue along the road, then blazes guide us left onto an overgrown logging trail. At first, there is a quite steep ascent, then it flattens and transitions into a smaller valley. The logging trail descends into a smaller sinkhole, where there is a crossroad, and we continue right. The logging trail becomes overgrown with grass again. When the logging trail flattens, we need to pay attention to a less noticeable turn-off to the left. At first, a barely visible footpath leads us to a smaller plain, and on the left, we already see the upper walls of Velika Slavica. The footpath leads us to the foot of the walls and is nicely routed across them. It leads us along a smaller ledge and through a groove. We carefully follow the blazes and occasionally use our hands for support, but it is not technically demanding. We soon emerge from the dense forest, and only a few minutes on rocky terrain separate us from the top. From the top, a view opens up slightly towards the west.
