Smiljan - Krčmar (on marked path)

Access to starting point:
Leave the A1 motorway at the Gospić exit and continue left into the center of Gospić, where we turn right towards Smiljan. Drive straight until we see the church below Krčmar. Continue left towards the church and park at the intersection.

Path description:
From the starting point, we go past the church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Carmel and towards the last house, which we bypass on the left side. Behind the house is the first station of the Way of the Cross. The road steeply ascends and makes a bend. Then a marked path branches off, which goes slightly above the road, and we continue on it or on the road. At the bend, a longer marked path joins us (which crosses a pasture with a dog) and also crosses the previously mentioned marked path. At this bend, we turn onto the marked path that cuts a smaller road bend. After a few minutes, we arrive at a barn with toilets. Here, the marked path and the Way of the Cross split. We continue right on the marked path. The path first gently ascends through the forest. After a few minutes, the path becomes steep. Soon we arrive from the forest to a meadow and then back to the Way of the Cross. After a few steps, we reach a barn with a huge boulder a little below the summit. We continue left on the path and in 5 minutes we are at the rocky summit with a cross. The HPO stamp and Lički mountain pearls are located on a rock under the cross.
