Access to starting point:
a) From Nova Gorica or Tolmin, drive towards Bovec. Just a little after the roundabout where the roads from Nova Gorica and Tolmin merge, we arrive at a junction where the road branches left towards the Solarji pass and Kolovrat. The road then takes us along the edge of Volč, where a sign for the Solarji pass directs us right onto the road that begins to climb more steeply after the last houses. Continue driving on the asphalt road, which after a few kilometers of ascent brings us to the pass, where there is also a road junction. Here, continue on the lower left road, along which after just a few meters we park in the larger parking lot (park so as not to obstruct possible forestry works).
b) From Bovec, drive towards Tolmin, but follow the road to the point where the road to Kolovrat branches right (the junction is marked and is located just a little before the roundabout where the road splits towards Nova Gorica and Tolmin).
Path description:
From the parking lot, return to the junction, where at the stop sign we notice the start of the path leading towards the summit of Na gradu. The path immediately begins to ascend, initially leading us through shrubbery (in autumn, we will notice ripe hazelnuts here). Next, we quickly climb to the indistinct summit of Platene, from which we descend to the nearby asphalt road. A short section of the path follows the road, but the markers for the Na gradu summit quickly direct us left onto a path that ascends through a belt of low forest. The path then takes us to an old military road, along which beside the defensive embankment we climb to the grassy slope of the Na gradu summit. At the edge of the meadow, we ascend to a small saddle, then continue left and after 2 minutes of further walking reach the panoramic summit.
From the summit of Na gradu, return via the ascent path to the nearby saddle, then continue on the well-trodden path that leads past the open-air museum. Here, beside the caverns and restored trenches, we descend to a larger meadow, then on the other side begin a steeper ascent. After a few minutes, the steepness eases and the path brings us to the broad, gentle ridge of Kolovrat, along which we continue with fine views. A few short ascents and descents follow, and the path takes us to Trinški vrh, which we recognize by the inscription on the plaque.
From Trinški vrh, continue on the well-traceable and still panoramic path that begins to descend towards the nearby saddle, where the path also touches the Italian road.
Once on the road, continue sharply left and after about 10 steps arrive at Bivak Zanuso.
