From Bovec, we drive towards Kranjska Gora. In Spodnja Trenta a few hundred meters after Galerija Berebica we will notice a cart track and a signpost for Berebica on the left side of the road. From here we drive a few more 10 meters on the road, and then we will notice an appropriate spot for parking on the right side.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue a few 10 meters along the main road in the direction of Bovec. On the right side of the road, we will then notice a cart track or mule track and a signpost for Berebica. At the beginning of the mule track there is also the TNP sign.
We head onto the mentioned path and start ascending in hairpin turns. The turns are also marked with numbers. In the first part, the path runs along a quite steep slope, so despite the forest we occasionally get a nice view towards the Soča and surrounding mountains. A little higher we cross a fence and the mule track leads us past some landscaped garden plots. Continuing on, we ascend in hairpin turns for quite some time, and at the 19th turn we reach a smaller junction where there is a spring with drinking water. Here a hunting path also branches off to the right, by which one can also reach Staro Utro.
We continue on the military mule track and the slope becomes a little less steep. Such a path, which continues through the forest, then brings us to a crossroads. To the left a path branches off towards the mountain pasture Berebica, which is only a few minutes' walk away, while we continue to the right and continue ascending along the mule track leading to Staro Utro.
We continue ascending through the forest in hairpin turns all the way to the last, 24th hairpin turn. The mule track, which is in quite bad condition, soon becomes gentler and crosses increasingly steep slopes. Such a path, from which wonderful views open up, soon brings us to Staro Utro where the Hunting Cottage Berebica is also located.
We continue past the hunting cottage and head onto the trail that runs southwards and initially ascends through the forest. The forest soon gives way to dwarf pines and from the path beautiful views also open up towards the east. Along such a path we soon reach the panoramic summit. The summit is overgrown with dwarf pines, so if we want to climb right to the highest point, we must climb a few more meters through dense dwarf pines.
