Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice highway, take the exit Jesenice - west (Hrušica) and continue driving in the direction of Kranjska Gora. When we arrive in Gozd-Martuljek, we turn right in the direction of Srednji Vrh and drive on a narrow and steep road to the mentioned place. When the road flattens a little, we will come to an intersection of several roads and a turning area. Here we park in a suitable place by the intersection.
Route description:
From the crossroad, we continue on the left ascending road along which we notice signs "Trupijevo poldne". We continue on the mentioned road for some time, then the next sign for the same peak directs us right onto an ascending grassy cart track. The cart track soon turns sharply to the right and ascends diagonally for a short time, then brings us to an unmarked junction, where we continue on the lower right cart track, which after a few minutes of traversing comes very close to the Jerman stream. Further, we ascend moderately along the stream, and the cart track on which we walk crosses the mentioned stream several times over a bridge. Higher, the path leads past some abandoned huts on Hudih hlevih, then it flattens and in a few minutes of additional walking brings us to a wider forest road (area named Železnica).
When we step on the road, we follow it to the left and follow it in a gentle ascent to the first crossroad. Here we continue sharply right, where in a few minutes of additional walking we step out of the forest onto the lower southern edge of Blekova planina. The road leads us further along the right edge of the mountain pasture, then, when it turns left, we leave it and continue the path along the edge of the forest across increasingly panoramic slopes. In less than 5 minutes of walking from the spot where we left the road, we arrive at the wooden Austrian hut (Blekova Hütte).
From the hut, we walk across the mountain pasture somewhat towards the west, where we quickly arrive at a sign marking the state border. We continue along the initially indistinct border ridge on the path, which soon enters the forest. We continue the ascent on the easy-to-follow path marked further with Austrian blazes, which ascends along and beside the state border. Higher, the path turns slightly to the left and ascends more steeply for a short time. After a few minutes of ascent, the path flattens and brings us to the edge of the forest. Here the Austrian blazes turn right downhill, but we continue for another 10 steps or so, and the fairly gentle path quickly brings us to the summit of Zajčnik.
