Stara Žaga - Veliki Javornik (Bohor) (via Skalica)

Access to starting point:
On Veliki Javornik, the highest peak of Bohor, we can ascend also from Planina pri Sevnici or from the hamlet Stara Žaga below it, where at the bus stop there is a larger parking lot with signposts for Skalica, Koča na Bohorju and Lisca. Here we can come from Sevnica, Šentjur or from Rimske Toplice through the valley of Gračnica.

Route description:
From the starting point Stara Žaga we start in accordance with signposts towards Skalica on the asphalt road towards Bohor. Already about 100 meters later, behind the houses we leave the road to the right and on a pleasant forest path we ascend to a clearing with a hunting observatory and a feed site. Then we again get into the forest. Higher, we reach a macadam road which we at first cross, and then we follow it, in the last part also slightly downwards. We get to the hunting lodge Bohor, which stands on a saddle below Vrh Možnica. On the forest road in accordance with signposts we continue towards Skalica. But before it, we come on a bigger crossing. The right path leads on the precipitous peak of Skalica, and we choose the left path towards Veliki Javornik (and further to Koča na Bohorju).
We continue towards the east. We soon step on the road and we come to a crossing below Veliki Javornik, on which we ascend on a cart track and a steep footpath. On the top we get to a large meadow, where on the highest point there is placed a concrete column with an inscription box and a stamp. The peak unfortunately doesn't have much view, for this purpose it is worth crossing the meadow towards the west, where an excellent viewpoint opens up with a bench and a view towards the west.
