Straßegg - Zechnerschlag (Rohregg)

Access to starting point:
From the border crossing Šentilj we continue driving on the highway towards Graz / Graz and further towards Linz and Salzburg. We soon leave highway A9 and continue driving slightly right in the direction towards Vienna / Wien and continue driving on the expressway S35. We leave the aforementioned expressway at the exit for Mixnitz, and then from the roundabout we take the exit in the direction of Teichalm. We also continue following the signs for Teichalm. At the end of the settlement St. Erhard, a road branches off to the right towards Teichalm, and we continue straight following the signs for Straßegg, Hartberg, Birkfeld, and Gasen. The road then starts to ascend more noticeably, and we drive along it to the pass Straßegg, where the guesthouse Stroßeggwirt is also located. The designated parking lot by the guesthouse is intended for guesthouse guests, we park in an appropriate place nearby.

Path description:
From the pass we head onto the path towards Sommeralm and Teichalm, initially walking on a macadam road that brings us in a minute to a spot with several crosses. We bypass the crosses on the left side, continuing the path on a cart track, which we leave after crossing the pasture fence and continue slightly left onto a steeper footpath. Higher up we leave the forest for a few minutes and with a view to the right and back beautiful vistas open up. A forested ascent follows and higher a crossing of a rough forest road, onto which we then return. We continue the path on the road, which shortly ahead starts to descend, before the fence we go slightly left onto the footpath. A short crossing through the forest follows, after the cross we leave the forest and a shorter steeper descent on the grassy slope follows. The path ahead leads us on a cart track, which shortly ahead, at the Pöllabauerkreuz cross, joins a macadam road.
When the road a few minutes ahead goes into the forest we leave it onto a marked cart track, which starts to ascend steeply, at several junctions we continue straight.
When the cart track leaves the forest, we go from a smaller junction right, back into the forest on an unmarked path, which a little higher starts to disappear, we follow the direction upwards. The forest ends quickly, and then we quickly ascend the grassy slope to the cross at the top of the mountain, from where a beautiful view opens up.
