Access to starting point:
From the Kobarid – Bovec road in the village of Žaga we turn towards the Učja border crossing. On the Italian side at the intersection where the road branches right towards the Karnica saddle and Resia, we continue left or straight in the direction of the town of Videm/Udine. When the road crosses Beli potok / Rio Bianco, we follow it for a few hundred meters, then the road levels out and on the right side we will notice a larger building. On the right where a short road branches off we park. We do not park in front of the mentioned private building where it is marked that parking is prohibited. The starting point is located less than a kilometer before the Tam na Meji / Passo Tanamea pass.
Route description:
Near the starting point we will notice signposts for trail no. 711 which we follow. First we cross the road and head onto the cart track which is closed to traffic. We continue along the gentle cart track which we follow for about 200 meters, then we turn onto the left cart track along which the markings continue. When we come near the stream Meja (Torrente Mea) we continue right, then soon cross the stream and reach a junction.
Right along the stream the circular path Percorso Fuori continues, but we turn onto the left cart track along which we can already see signposts and information boards. At the signposts we continue straight in the direction of the shelter Ricovero ANA and the Križ saddle. Here the path turns into the forest and first leads past the dilapidated hut Casera di Menon. For a short time we still follow the poorer cart track which crosses the torrent bed and brings us to a junction. Here we leave the cart track and turn left onto a narrower path marked Rifugio ANA.
For some time we then climb quite steeply through the forest, then we reach a marked junction.
Left leads path 711A towards the hut Rifugio ANA, but we continue straight on path 711 in the direction of the Križ saddle (Sella Kriz).
The path soon turns left and begins to climb somewhat more steeply through the forest in which there are many rocks. For quite some time we climb along such a path, then the path brings us out of the forest to the smaller abandoned alpine pasture Stavoli Cuntia from which some views of the surrounding peaks open up. On the pasture we will also notice some ruins and a hunting observation post.
We continue along the marked path which leads us through a somewhat sparser forest and along shrubs. The slope then becomes grassy and after a short ascent we reach the ridge where we join a better-trodden path that leads from the village Viškorša (Monteaperta).
Left leads the path towards the hut Rifugio ANA and Breški Jalovec, but we turn right towards the Križ saddle (Sella Kriz). From the junction we walk along a wide scenic path which quickly brings us to the mentioned saddle where a large cross is located. At the cross there is also a registration box.
At the saddle we leave the wide path and continue along the ridge on a marked but less-trodden trail. The less-trodden path leads us along the ridge and soon climbs more steeply. Later the ridge becomes narrower and occasionally somewhat exposed. The path subsequently continues for quite some time along the ridge and repeatedly climbs and descends somewhat. At some places the path is also somewhat more demanding and requires some extra caution. Along the path which runs mostly along a grassy ridge we then reach the summit Brinica on which a smaller cross and a registration box are located.

Along the route: Sedlo Križ (1360m), Sedlo Križ (1529m)
