Teichalm (Parkirišče Heulantsch) - Plankogel

Access to starting point:
From the border crossing Šentilj we continue driving on the highway towards Graz / Graz and further towards Linz and Salzburg. We soon leave the highway A9 and continue driving slightly right in the direction towards Vienna / Wien and continue driving on the expressway S35. We leave the mentioned expressway at the exit for Mixnitz, and then from the roundabout we take the exit in the direction of Teichalm. We also continue to follow the signs for Teichalm. At the end of the settlement St. Erhard we once again turn right towards Teichalm, and then we begin to ascend steeply. When we reach the mountain pasture Breitalm, we gradually begin descending but follow the road to the parking lot Rastplatz Heulantsch, which is situated somewhat before the Almwellness Hotel Pierer.
To the starting point we can also arrive from the direction of the town Weiz or Frohnleiten.

Route description:
From the parking lot, we follow a cart track with signs for the mountain hut Stoahandhütte, and soon turn left onto a marked path that runs alongside a grazing fence. Higher up, after a short traverse across the slope, we cross another grazing fence and begin a steep ascent along the grazing fence. For a few minutes, we ascend steeply on a grassy slope, and upon reaching the ridge, we turn right (to the left is the peak Frießenkogel, which is not accessible) and in a few minutes of further walking, we arrive at the panoramic peak Heulantsch.
At the summit, by the cross, we turn left into the forest through which we begin descending; upon leaving the forest a little lower, we reach a cart track, which we follow to the right, continuing a gentle descent to a nearby junction, where we turn left upward in the direction of the marked path leading toward the mountain hut Stoahandhütte.
The path ahead, on the right side with beautiful views, bypasses Grubbauerkogel (1424 m), passing two benches. A short descent follows, then we ascend through the forest to an indistinct peak Nestlbodnerkogel (1393 m), after which, passing a bench, we exit the forest. A short descent follows along the forest edge; after crossing a grazing fence, from the junction we continue slightly left (down right to Pension Camping Holzmeister) and in a minute of further walking arrive at the mountain hut Stoahandhütte.
We bypass the hut on the right side, then ascend first gently, then more steeply, first along the grazing fence, higher along the forest edge. When the steepness eases, we arrive at the reservoir lake at the summit of Mooskogel. From here we first descend gently along a panoramic ridge to the saddle, behind which we moderately ascend to the 1410-meter-high Kulmkogel. Some further walking along the grazing fence follows, then we reach the summit with a cross, where there is a marked junction.
Here we go slightly right (slightly left to Haberlstall Alm), at the junction a few minutes away we go slightly right again (sharply left to Haberlstall Alm), then moderately descend to the next junction, where we go left (right to Teichalm).
We continue in the direction of the signs for Sommeralm, and the path on the other side of the indistinct saddle splits again.
We continue slightly right (slightly left to Stoakogelhütte), then a traversing ascent through a belt of forest follows. When the forest ends, at several junctions we continue straight ahead, i.e., follow the signs for Sommeralm; a wind power plant can also help with orientation.
From the junction at the wind power plant, we continue left toward the summit Plankogel and the hut Stoakogelhütte (right to Sommeralm) and bypass the wind power plant on the left side. A short traverse follows, then from the marked path leading to the hut Stoakogelhütte we go left onto an unmarked but well-trodden path that begins to ascend the grassy slope upward. Higher up we cross another grazing fence, followed by a few minutes of moderate ascent to the cross on the mountain summit.
