Access to starting point:
From the border crossing Šentilj, we continue driving on the highway towards Graz and further towards Linz and Salzburg. We soon leave highway A9 and continue driving slightly right in the direction towards Vienna / Wien, and continue driving on the fast road S35. We leave the mentioned fast road at the exit for Mixnitz, and then from the roundabout we take the exit in the direction of Teichalm. We also continue to follow the signs for Teichalm. At the end of the settlement St. Erhard, we once again turn right towards Teichalm, and then we start ascending steeply. When we reach the mountain pasture Breitalm, we gradually start descending, but we follow the road to the parking lot at lake Teichalmsee.
Path description:
On the south side of the expanded parking lot, a macadam road branches off towards the west, marked with signs for Gerlerkreuz and Tyrnauer Alm. The road splits after a few steps, and we continue sharply left (slightly right Tyrnauer Alm). The path ahead leads us along a gently sloping macadam road, offering beautiful views of the mountains above Teichalm and guiding us through expansive pastures. After some time, we veer slightly right from the poor road onto a cart track, marked with signs for the Gerlerkogelhütte cottage (the path straight ahead leads towards the Gerlerkreuz cross). Next follows a diagonal ascent across a slightly steeper pasture; higher up, immediately after crossing a grazing fence, we enter the forest, traversing the slopes of the Gerlerkogel peak on its right, western side.
Crossing is made in a gentle to moderate descent, and when we leave the forest, we go left towards the cottage Gerlerkogelhütte (slightly right Gschaidberg). Only a short walk along the road follows, and we arrive at the cottage, from which a beautiful view opens towards the mountain Schöckl.
