Access to starting point:
From the border crossing Šentilj we continue driving on the highway towards Gradec / Graz and forward towards Linz and Salzburg. Highway A9 we soon leave and we continue driving slightly right in the direction towards Dunaj / Wien and we continue driving on the highway S35. The mention we leave the highway at exit for Mixnitz, and then at the roundabout we go to the exit in the direction of Teichalm. Further, we still follow the signs for Teichalm. At the end of the settlement St. Erhard we once again turn right towards Teichalm, and then we start ascending steeply. When we reach the mountain pasture Breitalm we gradually start descending, and we follow the road to the parking lot at the lake Teichalmsee.
Path description:
On the south side of the expanded parking lot, a macadam road branches off towards the west, marked with signs for Gerlerkreuz and Tyrnauer Alm. The road splits after a few steps, and we continue slightly to the right toward the mountain pasture Tyrnauer Alm (sharply left Gerlerkreuz). The path ahead diagonally crosses the ski slope, and higher up, the road enters the forest, where it continues to ascend diagonally to the right. When in the forest a slightly wider road turns sharply to the left, we continue straight on a poorer road, marked with signs for the mountain pasture Tyrnauer Alm. A few minutes ahead, a path joins from the right, passing by the mountain hut Teichalmhütte, and a few steps further, we continue left on a footpath that initially ascends slightly, then crosses the slopes to the right for some time without significant changes in altitude, gradually arriving at the southwestern slopes of the peak Schweineck, where a beautiful view opens up for a while. Next follows a short descent, and then we reach a grassy saddle, where the path turns toward the west. Further on, the path continues without noticeable ascents or descents, and when we leave the forest, we step onto a road where we can already see the mountain hut Tyrnauer Almhütte, just a few minutes' walk away. The mountain hut is located a minute to the right from the road.
