Access to starting point:
We leave the Gorenjska highway at the Hrušica exit and follow the road ahead towards Kranjska Gora. Just before the village of Dovje, the road to Mojstrana (Vrata, Kot and Krma) branches off to the left from the main road. We continue along the road towards the village of Radovna and the valleys of Krma and Kot. The relatively steep road then takes us past the TNP sign, after which the road soon flattens and leads us to a junction where a macadam road into the Kot valley branches off to the right. We continue straight ahead on the road, which begins to descend. In the middle of the descent, the road into the Krma valley branches off to the right (straight ahead to Radovna). A little further on, we reach the next junction, where we continue right towards Krma. The macadam road then takes us to the Kovinarska koča mountain hut, which we continue to follow. The occasionally somewhat rougher road then leads us to the parking lot in front of the barrier.
Path description:
Already about 50 m before the parking lot, a marked path to Lipanca branches off to the left upwards. We head onto this path, which after the initial three-minute gentle walk starts to ascend steeply. After a few minutes of walking, the path brings us below cliffs on which we notice an inscription that the path we will be ascending was built in 1952.
The path ahead steeply ascends through the forest to a somewhat more demanding passage, where pegs, less steep steps and a steel cable (easy) assist us. The path then brings us among dwarf pines and we follow it ahead to a mighty torrent gully. To the gully we first descend a little, on the other side we ascend transversely up the steep slope. The passage of the gully is difficult or even impossible after heavier rain, but since the slopes are steep the water drains quickly. The path ahead then ascends through the forest, still steeply upwards. The path increasingly approaches the steep slopes and rocky cliffs. When the forest becomes considerably sparser, the path ascends even more steeply. The path becomes so steep for a short time that we must assist a little with our hands. This section is dangerous for slipping when wet, but in dry conditions it poses no greater danger. The path then brings us below steep rocky cliffs, where especially in springtime there is a high risk of falling rocks. We cross below the cliffs almost horizontally, then the path ascends again. A steel cable (easy) assists us again, bringing us to grassy slopes. Further ahead we cross slopes exposed to falling rocks again and soon after we reach a less steep section of the path. Further we ascend an increasingly panoramic path mostly among dwarf pines and sparse forest to a junction, where we turn left towards Debela peč.
The path ahead brings us in moderate ascent in a few minutes to Lipanska vratca, from which we descend in a few steps to a junction.
We continue left towards Brdo - Debela peč along a path surrounded by dwarf pines almost horizontally. We follow the path from which the path to the summit of Brda branches off to the left twice, to a junction where the usual approach from Pokljuka to Debela peč joins us. Further we continue towards Debela peč, occasionally even somewhat downhill, to the final steeper ascent. The ascent on the summit slope of Debela peč is not demanding and lasts approximately ten minutes.
On the way: Lipanska vrata (1898m)
