Access to starting point:
We drive to Tolmin, there at the traffic light on the top of the hill we turn right (if we come from the direction of Kobarid, left) towards Zatolmin. After a good 50 m from the traffic light we arrive at a smaller intersection, where we continue slightly left (straight to Zatolmin). Further, we drive along the Brunov drevored road to the signs for the path to Kozlov rob. We park at an appropriate place at the beginning of the path to Kozlov rob.
Path description:
At the starting point, we notice signs for Grad, which direct us onto a wide track that ascends through the forest. Already after a shorter ascent, we come to a junction, where we continue right in the direction of the Učna pot on Kozlov rob, or Grad (left narrow trail).
We continue on a wide and gently sloping path, which quickly brings us to a water reservoir. Behind the water reservoir the path ascends gently for a short time, then passes into a dense forest, through which it steadily ascends. Nicely arranged and well-maintained path, at the junctions we follow in the direction of the Učna pot, which higher leads us over a small wooden bridge, after which we quickly arrive at an old military bunker. We continue the ascent on a moderately ascending path, which brings us to a viewpoint, from which a nice view opens up on Tolmin with its surroundings. The path ahead returns into the forest for a few minutes, then a little below the summit brings us out of the forest, where the Grajska pot joins us. Here we continue right and after a few steps of additional walking we arrive at the renovated ruins of the former castle on Kozlov rob.
