Tonkina koča na Vršiču - Poštarski dom na Vršiču (on old road)

Access to starting point:
From Kranjska Gora on the road which leads over the mountain pass Vršič we drive towards Bovec or vice versa. Between 16th and 17th hairpin turn of Vršič road we will get to the mountain hut Tonkina koča, near of which we park on a parking lot by the road.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we at first walk to the mountain hut Tonkina koča, and from there we continue on the old road which leads towards the mountain hut Poštarski dom na Vršiču. On quite gently sloping road, from which occasionally a nice view opens up towards Špik and surrounding mountains we at first mostly walk through the forest. On first left zig zag unmarked footpath branches off to the right towards the mountain hut Erjavčeva koča na Vršiču, and we still continue on the old road or wider mule track. Higher from the right joins also a marked path from the mountain hut Erjavčeva koča, and then more often beautiful views opening up on surrounding mountains and walls. On one of the zig-zags in the direction of straight the path continues towards Prisojnik (path through the window Prednje Prisojnikovo okno), and then in few more zig-zags we reach plain before the mountain hut Poštarski dom na Vršiču. From here follows only a short walk and the path brings us to the mountain hut Poštarski dom.
